This movie is a failure at so many levels.

Many many levels.

Cameos that made no sense at the expense of a proper narrative with cameos that would’ve made sense.

A stupid timeline crisis that made no sense after Loki season 2.

Just got home I have to get this off my chest.

If you want a self contained superhero movie that is hilarious with decent action set pieces THAT AMOUNT TO NOTHING and weird nostalgia **** cameos THAT AMOUNT TO NOTHING and an amazing tour de force by Jackman as Wolverine who looked amazing then you are going to love this movie.

However…

If you wanted the promised Marvel Jesus RESET love letter to the X-Men

teaming up with the Avengers in End Game

to course correct their disastrous multiverse narrative then this movie is NOT for you!

Funny. I expected none of that. Did you all get this from the trailer??

Marvel Jesus was a joke. Not anything more. You read to much into that.

They talked so much in the movie about respecting the X-Men team

The epic Loki S2 ending made this movie irrelevant.

Someone will have to explain to me why that ending was so great and how it rectified any wrongs.

Gambit works cause the actor wanted to be in a Gambit film and the movie was green lit and shut down many times. Hence the jokes about not knowing what world he belonged to

Deadpool films should not have important plot point and fixing MCU

The films are comedies and constant wink and nods to the audience

It’s the very definition to alternate universe

Seeing DP and Wolverine fight not once but twice was just great to finally see.

Hugh back as Logan.. Nothing better.

I understand, but I would say -- and I HATE that I have become the Lady Gag-me-with-a spoon champion -- that women will be intrigued by the romance angle (make believe or not) of Joker 2, and the intrigue women have with crazy people and murder (CSI, Housewifes, etc).

If kids date anymore, this will make a perfect date movie.

I have no idea if this will have a huge opening, I was joking mostly through all this, I know you know that. But that said, that 2019 movie made a billion dollars. Never saw that coming. So there seems to be a curiosity factor there built in, and Lady Gaga may benefit from it as well as bring in even more.

I guess the romance angle could be intriguing to women and there's the "bad boy" factor too, but I don't think many women picture a wrinkly, emaciated Joaquin Phoenix Joker when they imagine a bad boy romance. If they did I might consider turning to a life of crime rather than becoming a doting grandfather. Hmm, maybe I can be a drug mule lol.



But yeah, I also didn't expect Joker to rake in $1B. The cynic in me thinks that a lot of the Snyderverse disciples went to it multiple times in order to continue supporting the dark, gritty DC aesthetic over that of the MCU. So I guess Alatar and T8OO will definitely see J2 lol...

I know that, I was just pointing out that Jackman is also not a crowd-drawer either on his own necessarily.

It's who they play (Harley and Wolverine) that draws the crowds. Add in their respective audience after that. I think Gaga may have a bigger fan base to draw from (women and especially those that liked that dumb A Star Is Born).

Then there's also JOKER fan base to add to that. That's where it gets huge.

He’s a character in the MCU


If they loved him that much they would go see he’s few other movies he’s made since Iron Man

I think you can pick out a flop from almost any actor, director, producer, writer AND character.

I agree that there are "no more movie stars anymore" mostly. It's gotten very thin. But I still believe people thrive on celebrity, I believe they idolize characters and the actor that portrays them at the same time.

Actors gets butts in seats, if they're playing the characters people want to see -- Keaton Batman, Ford Indy**, Jackson Wolverine, on and on. Hollywood is continually mining this very proposition with endless remakes and sequels. And just dare to tell them someone else will play the role. They freak. Can't handle it. So the 'actor' IS part of the movie character. The movie industry is suffering from a lot of different reasons, not just that there's "no movie stars".

**NOTE: Ford is a bad example because he's overplayed his hand into an age no one wants to see, for 2 films now. I think if Mel Gibson came back as Mad Max, he'd get butts in seats.

We need to go easier on @jye4ever. Keep in mind that just prior to seeing this he'd been banned for 2 weeks, forlorn and essentially rudderless without the benefit of our collective wisdom to steer him. In retrospect, his misguided and completely erroneous take was to be expected.
