Biggest Disappointment and Biggest Surprise

From a year ago until now, what collectible were you looking forward to but turned out to be huge disappointment for you?

Also what piece was pretty much off your radar that you really had no interest in, but as soon as you saw pics made you think to yourself "maybe I should have ordered that because it looks awesome"?

I know everyone has they're own choices so here's mine. So far my biggest disappointment would be the T-800 PF. I really wanted this so bad to start a Movie PF collection and what movie is bigger then Terminator? But when I seen how skinny he looked and how he made the Indy PF look like its on roids instead I just had to cancel my order. Also I really wanted the IronMan Bust but with the paint problems being reported and the lack of replacements I just figured it wasn’t worth the high price so I had to cancel as well.

One that surprised me a lot was the King Leonidas PF. The likeness and seeing it in person made this a big favorite of mine. Also Mystique gave me no interest at all but when seeing some of the photos and video reviews I changed my mind and put an order in.

Biggest Surprise = Subway Shining/Screaming figure

Expected and pulled it off = Iron Spiderman

Most disapointed = ..

Edit: Most dissapointed = Agreed, Santa's little Helper the MO. And I really was looking forward to it.

Both the biggest dissapointment and surprise go to one piece for me.. Moria Orc.

Horribly dissapointed when I saw the in hand pics, and cancelled. Months later, I finally got one with intentions to custom weather the fabric.

Biggest surprise was when I opened it, saw how awesome it was, and was surprised I was happy with it as-is.

Thor! Biggest Dissappointment that many were shipped repaired and painted over(including mine). The SURPRISE was that they were out of replacements as soon as they were done shipping out the first half of Thors from the warehouse.


Makes me glad I canceled the Iron Spidey, same issue I hear.

My biggest surprise would probably be Species Sil maquette or Bowen's Ultron full size statue. Don't care what anyone says, that thing is sweet.

Agreed 100%. I forgot about it because I cancelled within a 3rd set of RED pics.


Edit: I don't think OP would mind if within the past 12 months. Not much to go from off just Jan-Mar alone.

Seriously? That sucks bro. I got both of those without a hassle. And they are probaly within top 5 of my favorite pieces at the moment. Scratch that, they ARE in the top 5.

Writing this made me think of a new thread, "What statues have arrived broken/scratched/returned?"

hmm... not sure what my biggest disappointment is. medicom jango fett is my first choice. as cool as that figure is it just isn't as awe-inspiring as i hoped.
biggest surprise would have to be the palpatine life size bust. wasn't even on my radar until maulfan posted his pics...then i jumped on it.

I think it's a little early to be calling the T-800 PF a disappointment based off only one persons pics, but anyway.

I haven't really had any disappointments myself. My biggest surprise would probably have to be the Mystique PF. I knew I would really like it after seeing all the pics and videos, but once I had it in hand I completely fell in love with it. One of the best purchases I've made.
