I've been collecting Master Replicas and life-size props for a while now. Recently, I've had an interest in getting a replica of the blaster Deckard uses in Blade Runner.

I've been searching a little and found various versions of it. But it's hard to get an overview.

Does anyone know anything about this blaster? Any good versions that I should look for? And anything I should stay away from?

Anything is a help.

There are three good versions around, some more difficult to come across than others, namely:

Off world - can be purchased through eBay, plastic and metal kit
Sidkit - Turn up occasionally but usually rather expensive, but detail and finish are great
Richard Coyle - Probably the best and most accurate you can get but carries a high price tag

Personally I've never seen an amazing all resin kit so I'd steer clear, they are usually of poor quality IMO. Also this blaster needs to have a good weight to it, plus you can't beat the feel of metal!

Hope this helps!

None were actually supplied with the blasters. There were a few custom ones around but think they are pretty rare now.

The best website to find out some more info would be propsummit.com, you should find some good info on there and also thereplicapropforum.com

No problem, always happy to help a fellow prop collector :rock

Thanks a lot. propsummit is a goldmine it seems.

I find it rather strange that there's such a great difference between many of the pieces. The ones from Off World looks fine, but they lack the metal finish.

Being mostly familiar with Master Replicas and eFX, the idea of kits and putting the pieces together yourself is completely strange to me. It seems like there's a lot of research to do.

Indeed there is, the Coyle blasters come finished but they can run a very high price due to the quality and accuracy.

Good luck! :) I'm jealous, I doubt I would ever be able to get one into the UK :monkey2

Glad I came across this thread - I was having the same thoughts of looking myself
