Is being held Prisoner by the Imps!!!
Hey there folks,

I have no idea where to post this, but here we go;

I recently got my hands on some Dragon DiD bodies to use in a project, and i was wondering how easy/if its even possible to swap out the current neck for the more useful Hot-Toys Ball Joint neck from the TrueType 38 series.

This is my first forey into custom figures, and any pointers at all would be great...

It's possible but too much trouble...

Thanks for the reply Xeno and i hate to sound ungrateful but could you possibly explain to me how to go about doing it instead of just saying "its too much trouble"?

I mean, i know alot of folks here are experts in this field, but just saying its too much trouble doesnt answer the question or even give a hint as to HOW to go about doing it.

Alright ... no problem.
Take Dragon body as example then.
What you need to do is crack open DML's neck

Once you open it up you'll see a spring coiled up a stem.

Remove the spring and reveal the stem.

Okay lets look at Hot Toys Body
HT-Body.jpg

It's a ball joint connector.

Now you have options to

1) Cut, sand and reconstruct a ball joint like Hot Toys one.

Or

2) Crack open Hot Toys body and remove that ball joint base for the neck and transplant it into Dragon's body.

Now you need to worry about the length of Hot Toys neck.

It's slightly too long for Dragon body so you'll have to cut a bit off at the base, but remember inside the neck has 2 pieces of rubber so if you cut a bit of the base off you'll need to reconstruct the inside.

Alternatively if you want to sacrifice an articulation it might be easier to approach it.

Crack open DML neck. Cut HT neck shorter and putty or superglue the base to the DML body leaving the top part free to move.

see now I have a similar problem to this.
I bought a hot toys body which will be for a figure which I am currently building from scratch.
Les is painting the head to fit a hot toys body although because the clothing on the figure is so tight ( the pants mainly around the waist ) they won't fit on the hot toys body hips.
I tried to sand them but I'm basically hitting the joints.
I can't really change the pants since there perfect and very hard to get hold off.
The only body they will fit on from what I have tried so far is a dragon body , even then though on the dragon the t-shirt is tight ( guess I would just have to live with that :monkey1:rotfl ).

So what I would need is a dragon body with a hot toys neck adapter. :google:monkey1

Best way around this ?.
I have all his clothes and weapons lying around with two bodys and I haven't a clue what to do. :google

Have you consider using Medicom body instead? or Neo Guy body?

Or if pants is your only main concern and dont have much problem with the torso then you can chop the legs and pelvis off and replace it with Dragon's lower half. You need to sacrifice the articulation around the waist though.

ahh , now swaping the lower half isn't something I had thought of ?.
..... So I presume putting dragon legs on a hot toys body is insanley dificult. :monkey1:rotfl

I am probably gonna end up contacting a customizer about this.
Since Les has made the head ( already I think ) to fit a hot toys body the top half or at least the connector needs to be hot toys.

Unless you could modify the connector on the head without ruining the paint job !.

What you need for that situation, Hicks, is for Sideshow to release their armored body loose. :)
