Hi All

I was just wondering with anyone has any good pics of the boulders actual size next to a person so I can get a size comparison as I want to do the boulder scene in 1/6.

Ron

:lol Man, I tried the boulder. Unfortunately I think the boulder should probably be about 20"-24". I couldn't find a styrofoam ball that size so I made it smaller and tried to do some force perspective and with my current experience just couldn't do it justice.

I can't wait to see yours! it will be awesome.

According to the ever-reliable Wikipedia, the boulder was 22 feet (7m) in diameter. That's almost a 4 foot high boulder in 1/6!

I know its hard to tell in this pic, but I have a hard time believing the boulder is 22' tall.

I've seen round landscaping rocks at my local nurseries that I'm always tempted to get just to pose Indy next to! My wife thinks I'm nuts.

Here's a link. I'm not sure if the ones I've seen are actually granite or not, but I think there's all different sorts.

Here is a picture from the Making of Raiders documentry. Though he may be mistaken, and the photo seems to suggest this, Spielberg does say the boulder was "something like 22 feet in diameter" and that it was "extraordinarily large".

to me, it looks like Harrison (or his stunt double) is standing right next to it in that pic, so unless they're 10 feet tall, I seriously doubt 22'. I think a 2 foot beachball will be plenty big.

Kenner thought it was this:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="https://www.youtube.com/v/uDW5XABqj4s&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="https://www.youtube.com/v/uDW5XABqj4s&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

But judging from the figure, they weren't sticklers for movie accuracy.

That hat looks nothing like the fuzzy sombrero my Kenner Indy came with! :tap

We never really got a good look at the boulder in relation to anything, so I don't think it matters that much how big the actual thing was. Just use whatever looks reasonable.
