In the 90's my older cousin who was a big comic fan introduce me to Alan Moore's Miracleman comic run from the 80's.....To this day,it is still my favorite comic I have ever read. This was even before Watchmen, and the Miracleman themes touched by Moore in the comic, were revolutionnary for its day....

Back to the present, I learn a couple weeks ago that Randy Bowen did make a statue of him.....Funny thing is the character is not very well known amongst todays younger comic fans and his statue is really cheap on ebay..selling for 65-70$....Needless to say, I had to have one and bought one from a guy at statue Forum last week....received it today...

For some it would look like an average comic character statue, but my love of the character makes me really enjoy having this in my collection....

Please read the Miracleman comic run by Moore..it is still amazing.

I totally agree about Miracleman, Shai. I have the complete run of comics. It is amazing reading. Anyone who's a fan of Watchmen and hasn't read Miracleman needs to.

I've never been crazy about the McF statue, but the Bowen looks great. Congrats!

you guys should stop buying statues....they look bad, and doesnt stand the test of time...Premium Format is where this hobby is profitable and enjoyable.

+ MIRACLEMANSUX.

Love the character and the books - it's too bad the rights can't be worked out so they can do a definitive trade.

But seriously - that McF "thing" really does suck.:angelsmil

Congrats! That the Bowen is an awesome piece...

Also one of my favorite comics ever... the issue where he fights Kid Miracle Man is one of the great battles in comics history!

I really do wish they'd work out the rights issues... I don't know why McFarlane is being so stubborn. One of the many reasons I cannot support the guy.

Miracleman was and still is a great comic but extremely difficult to get a hold of interms of Trade paperbacks, I had to buy the MM collection on CD. A good thing about the Bowen statue was that the money raised from its sale was going to be used by Neil Gaiman, who wrote the title in its later issues, to help in his legal bid to get the rights to MM so he could finally finish the series. It is easy to forget that it is because of Mcfarlane that none of the series can be reprinted. He even used MM in the Hellspawn comic before he had proper rights to the character and then produced a man of miracles figure who look surprisingly like MM. I think the Bowen statue really pays tribute to the artists who worked on the series rather than the McF statue which makes the character look as though he was drawn by artists today.

Nice score Shai - the Bowen piece is a great representation of the character.

I'm almost ashamed to admit it in this thread, but I've never read Miraacleman. I know I should and it's on my list, I just never got around to it. I do know of the character though and people's affinity for Moore's run on the series. I remember seeing the comics hanging on the walls of local comic shops. Hopefully in the not so distant future I'll be able to track it down and check it out.

An administrator of an on-line collectibles forum recently Pm 'ed me telling me:''If you got nothing nice to say, dont say it''...:tap

But seriously, That Mcf Statue do suck compare to the bowen one...I really like The Bowen one, its a dead on comic representation.
