New Details about Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof's 1952| Collider

"Sources tell Vulture that the title, 1952, is a reference to a banker’s box of files and documents that had been left in Walt Disney’s personal development lab. The box was originally used for 1965′s That Darn Cat, but that title had been crossed out and in its place was written “1952″. The contents of the box were documents and primary source materials that look like someone had been working on a project about alien contact. Additionally, "1952" could refer to the "Washington flap", where it seemed like seven UFOs appeared on radar at National Airport.

The most striking reveal in all of this is that the Walt Disney Company can’t afford to buy new banker’s boxes and simply reuses the ones it already has."

Lindelof tweeted the following few days ago.

I'm glad to hear that cinematographer Claudio Miranda (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Tron: Legacy, Life of Pi, Oblivion) will be shooting Brad Bird's film.

And it's interesting to know that Claudio Miranda was part of the crew (gaffer) on most of David Fincher's films.

Yeah, I'm very interested this one. It'll be cool to see how it all plays out.

Another interesting theory is that the genesis of Disneyland is part of the story of the film somehow (same timing, and 2 of the photos in the box feature Walt Disney himself).

Anyway, interesting stuff indeed.

devincf : Filled with an immense sense of my own mortality while watching the long TOMORROWLAND presentation pretending they found a mystery box.

EricVespe: Tomorrowland stuff has begun. That 1952 box was found in the Morgue and contained a bunch of great stuff, which inspired the movie

eruditechick: TOMORROWLAND intro reel intensely interesting. Live action mystery-adventure, yes please. #D23Expo

EricVespe: Still not sure if it's a put-on or this box really existed and serves as inspiration for Lindeloff and Brad Bird.

EricVespe: Lindelof described by Bailey as "writer, producer and keeper of secrets"

EricVespe: Bird and Lindelof on stage with the 1952 box. They're going to open it up on stage.

devincf: Brad Bird & Damon Lindelof taking stage with that 1952 'mystery box.' This is a viral campaign in search of a movie.

EricVespe: There's an April 1945 photograph of Walt with Amelia Earhart. Hoax photo, with Walt's head on Cary Grant's body from an earlier photo

devincf: I'll let the other web guys feed you the marketing items in this mystery box that feed the viral campaign that is TOMORROWLAND.

devincf: They're pulling things out of the box like a couple of QVC hosts.

EricVespe: Yeah, it's all part of the game. No way this box is real, but it's fun. They're showing us pieces of Disneyana that are part of the movie

EricVespe: Tomorrowland mystery box has a blueprint of the park that reveals a secret structure underneath It's A Small World when under blacklight

devincf: Fake Orson Wells narrates fake mysterious 60s animation. TOMORROWLAND is DISNEY'S BIOSHOCK.

eruditechick: Tommorowland animation reel looks phenomenal, great sense of authenticity, but... straight up rapture, y'all.

EricVespe: Tomorrowland - They showed a "lost" animation pulled from a flawed metal disc. Old school Disney style giving hints at the movie

devincf: This phony viral **** for TOMORROWLAND is rubbing me the wrong way. May tap out of this film until actual release.

empiremagazine: #D23Expo Tomorrowland is wowing with unseen animation and more mystery... And it only just started shooting.

EricVespe: A group of scientists are brought together, including Tesla, to bring the next evolution of human advancement.

Saw some more comments from other attendees suggesting that the animation footage gave them the vibe of Bioshock.

Would rather have actual Bioshock. Ken Levine sort of ripped off Walt Disney with Andrew Ryan but I can't imagine the real Disney letting Walt be portrayed properly to convey a Bioshock sort of movie in anything more than looks.

Could be a classic case of, Bioshock the movie will never be made, so why not pay homage....or ripoff, whatever you prefer to call it.

Becuase Disney aren't the people for the job. Rapture works because of Andrew Ryan. They will make Walt just misunderstood rather than a guy who wants to strive for a perfect society and draw Hitler referances to their figurehead.

Well, it isn't a Bioshock movie. It's a Bioshock-like movie. Probably less on the subtext, and actual text, and more on the images and feel.

Who knows, it might spark up the real Bioshock movie someday. You never know.

I doubt the Bioshock Movie will be made anytime soon, a couple of years ago it was given the Green light and then Ken Levine stopped movie from happening, cause he said it wouldn't be done Justice.
