Good luck. The one time I had to deal with them for something like this, I got screwed. UPS insurance may only reimburse you partial value at a measley 10 or 20%. Typically the person who paid for the insurance has to do all the leg work.

usually yes, but if the person that shipped it says it's ok for ups to deal directly with you, then you can handle the claim yourself. of course only after the shipper signs off on it though.

The seller is supposed to do the work to get the insurance claim done with UPS.
The seller should reimburse your cost and then get his money back from UPS.
Independent of what happens with UPS - file a PayPal claim if the seller doesn't
cooperate.

the polystone is crack right thru. Looks like the mold of the tight inserts into the caft and foot The gaint polystone peg has snapped right off. :(

I ordered one from Big Bad Toy Store a few months back, and it came to me the same way. The leg was broken at the knee. I returned it for something else, but I was really bummed since it's such a great statue:( I didn't have a clue as to how to repair it, so it had to go.

UPS sucks. Avoid them at all costs. They have managed to break two straight statues of mine. I will not afford them a third opportunity.

Did your Thor come with it's outer (color) box styrofoam corner inserts? But yeah, sucks what happened. Maybe the seller thought he could get away with selling it broken...you never know.

It sucks that happened but I'm glad you got your money back. Honestly though, as long as the statue is securely placed in the styrofoam inserts, I don't see how it could break. Even if it is tossed around some, as long as it isn't moving around inside the foam I would think it would be okay. Possibly it was already broken to begin with but I could be wrong. Glad it all worked out for you in the end. :duff

And as far as the shipping carriers are concerned, some people say avoid FedEx, some say avoid UPS. It's kind of hard to know who to go with but I think it really comes down to who is actually handling the packages. I'm sure some people are more rough with them than others and it doesn't necessarily have to do with which carrier you use.

Why does SS not use these impact devices that you can get which tells if the parcel has been dropped or thrown around as it has a bubble on it which shows red if it gets impacted over a certain amount. This might then tell the customer how badly their parcel was treated on the way to them.
