I am new to Hot Toys (1 year), but through my travels I have read the concerns of rubber deteriorate across the board from Aliens to Batman and others. Does anyone have pictures they would like to share of cases where this has happened. I am sure many new members (including myself) would love to see images so that we understand when conversations of deteriorate are made in posts.

Thank you....

Oh...and no condom jokes please!!!

I once was drunk and had trouble...oh, yeah, that's a different story. I actually am interested in what others have to say with my 1989 Batman coming in a month or two.

There have been quite a few threads and posts about this over the years.... earliest ones I can remember were about the elbows tearing on the Rambo 2 figure.

Its not a problem that seems to have effected all of any one figure, but some have been more pronounced like the Leaky Abs on the DX02; rips on ED-209'd Dome and The Comedian's Body Armor.

Generally a good rule of thumb is to avoid extreme poses and keep them in a cool/dry environment.

I may pack my 1989 Batman in dry ice. ;)

When Michael did his review it sounded like the suit was not the typical rubber material.

It feels more like a dry vinyl for want of a better description. It actually feels dry - there's no greasy surface or texture. It's obviously not the same material, so I'm betting this is Hot Toys answer to the problems we've seen previously.

So hopefully this one will be free of issues... but I don't plan on any extreme poses; just a one and done and hope for the best

I'm very new to collecting, so I can't say for sure. But my Neca Catwoman's hips are made of rubber I think, and it turned from glossy black that matches the painted body, to a rubbery black/grayish tint. It's been in the cabinet for 6 months. I just wiped it with a clean wet cloth (filtered water) and it got shiny again.

Also, not sure if this can be applied to figures, but when you take care of a car, you can apply non-silicon protectants on rubber trims to avoid cracking. 303 Aerospace Protectant is a well known one that doesn't have crap that can actually kill rubber (like anything by Armor-All.) And for leather, all it needs is water to keep it in tip top shape. Again, this is coming from automotive care, but just thought it might work in some cases in collectibles.
