I'm done with it, it's finished.
Started work on this Vader on and off, mostly off, for about 15 years now and during that time I've given up a few times, procrastinated and obsessed over the details of this project. I've been inspired back in the day by many Vader modders including Hurricane and recently agonistes86 to buckle down and make a big push to finish. The Vader figure has gone through several iterations of parts and improvements over the years, but the biggest hold back and time spend was on the dome and the mask. I created a custom dome to fit a Screamin'/Kaiyodo mask, cut the helmet to separate the mask from the collar, added interior parts, sanded and primed ad nauseam and ran into many issues painting.
Darth Vader Recipe:
Vader Dome: Custom sculpt > (Used sculpting clay and styrene, spot filled, primed. Cast final dome in resin, with more sanding,
spot filling and priming)
Vader Helmet: Screamin'/Kaiyodo vinyl kit > (Lots of sanding, spot filling, carving to get sharper corners and thinner piping)
Vader Reveal: Sideshow Anakin head > (Repainted), Sideshow greeblies > (Cut and shaped to fit, using magnets to hold upper and
lower mask in place) and Sideshow neckbrace
Chest Armor: Screamin'/Kaiyodo vinyl kit > (Lots of sanding, spot filling, shaped and braced with metal sheet strips), Hot Toys
shoulder bells
Belt Box: Sideshow > (Control boxes moved inward)
Chest Panel: 3D designed and printed > (Rewired Sideshow electronics)
Inner Robe: Sideshow > (Tailored and cut to fit, added wire on inner edge)
Cape: Custom
Suit: Custom nylon outfit
Gloves: Various black hands > (Handmade vinyl forearms)
Lightsaber: Custom made > (Sideshow handle, CCFL blade, wiring fed through body and added detachable adapters for lightsaber)
Body: Starlord Vol 1 body > (Shaved down shoulders, and cut into area under arms to allow arms to rest against body, extended
ankles)
Boots: 1/6 leather boots, shin armor: Hot Toys
Codpiece: Sideshow
Hopefully I'll get around to posting wip projects I have going on or just when they're finished.
Thanks for looking!
