I heard both sides and understand both side's of this Completist argument. It's kind of feels more like last kid picked for choosing sports team. Do you want hot rod Tony on your team or 66 batman? The answer is I'm thankfull 4 option's n upgrades on all and just means to me have patience. I only own 1 thor 1 ironman but do have 4 or 5 Arnold Terminators. I Like the variety And being able to choose which figure from what movie. I think what Irritates some is that like 1 year seemed like a batman release year , then a iron man year and 2015 will be a star wars release year. If anything blame the movie dates and timing , its like a ocean wave nothing you can do to stop the TIDE of the Wave. The Waves will come and go you just need to find which Wave you want to ride. In the end im trying for variety in my collection. I have limited space so my choices reflect my choice as well as favorite's from beloved movies. I met a very cool star wars collectors and thats all they collect. We share pics of our growing addiction of our collection's and appreciate one who only has star wars and other's just iron man or military or gi joe. I hear more of just realy wanting a variety of release's instead of just constant batman nolan release's and throw in more lines to break up the constant 1 line. Its ALL a matter of choice if figure's have DEMAND! I been asking for a clark kent reeves and we all our Favorite we want. Hot toys is only so big and must market the products in line with popularity of film before we move on to the next flavor of the month. Otherwise its forgoten and does not sell well it just business strategy to sell at height of the movie release.

I wish the day comes when you post a video about all the variants with the Batman Returns license. Maybe put out another video and speak about the reasons a company announces a license and does nothing with it.

I don't know what's going on here.

Watch video rant about hot toys collectors about argument of releases of same figures just rereleased variant are you for differnt versions of ironman , batman , joker or terminator or rather move on to mad max after 1 madmax or want every version they can do based on movie representation. Do you want every figure variant to be released of ??? I believe is Topic. Like new starwars luke or new avengers do you want a 2 or 3rd round of same characters or every variant of iron man ? Best to watch video to understand argument or discussion.

Hey, can you recommend one of these books from the video?
I would like just one of them, which one is most comprehensive and visualy attracive describing different marks?

IM fanboy alert! :rotfl

Yes sounds more like he made this video because he is salty about us not liking IM, I like how he said we "cry and moan" because we quickly forget about the other great releases, actually every time a Iron Man is released I think about how many other figures that have never been done and we may never get because of all the Iron Man figures released, but of those wants that are on my list a lot of them wouldn't ever sell and will prob. never see the light of day to be honest.

Doesn't IM have more releases than Johnny Depp and Arnold? Ok maybe that's not true but also Iron Man might be their "Greedy" money maker.(spooktacular would say otherwise with all the discounts though)

Good points, however I think the vid is valid.. to be honest Star Wars, Iron Man and Batman are probably always going to get more releases (overall) than most other licenses, because the product sells.. and equally there are still fans of those licenses who complain, because the particular figure they want from the Big Three, has not been released.. Sideshow's SW Clone Troopers being a case in point.

Interestingly when the issue is debated over whether there are too many releases from the Big Three, someone often kindly posts a list of all the releases from other licenses that everyone forgets in the heat of the debate, because those releases do not have the same high profile license.. or because it does not fit the narrative of the person complaining..a good example is releases specifically aimed at the Far Eastern market, which have a much, much lower profile in the West eg. Captain Harlock, nonetheless they are still released.

Bottom line is, some people are going to complain if they do not get regular releases of state of the art figures, from the niche license they love, by Sideshow or Hot Toys.. with a bunch of accessories, for $95 dollars..and a discount code.. and specially reduced for Spooktacular.. plus they were complaining about the price, back when figures did only cost that much.. and reminiscing about when some figures only cost $60.
:lol

Of the 20 products listed on the front page of Hot Toys website today, only three are Iron Man -

4x Star Wars
3x Iron Man
3x Guardians of the Galaxy
2x Batman
2x Back To The Future
1x Commando
1x Sleepy Hollow
1x X-Men
1x Robocop
1x Transformers
1x Appleseed Alpha :dunno

..so less than half the products are from the Big Three.

To be honest I'm not very bothered by the different variants of Iron Man. Most of them I have no interest in owning anyways. I think the problem lies with the fact that out of the 42 armors we don't see very many of them in action so it seems a bit wasteful to really make those armors into figures. The line obviously is popular though and must sell well or Hot Toys wouldn't continue releasing the figures though.

I am more bothered by what I perceive as silly threads.
Is it good? Is it bad? Blah blah blah blah.
You like it - buy it.
You don't? Don't buy it.

Case closed.

Damn you know a good argument is good when you start to doubt what you said before.

But this is also a very good counter argument damn now I don't know any more :lol

Might as well milk the 'completists' for every dollar they have. Obsession is a poor-man's game.

Personally, I don't mind it, though. Doesn't bother me if you make something I'm not interested in. It's just more options for those willing to pass on things they don't want. It's only a burden on the obsessed.

Yup.. the argument that making lots of say, Iron Man armors or Star Wars Clone Troopers, means those figures are hogging the production schedules and excluding other figures from the manufacturing process has some merit.. unfortunately far too often the suggestions for what should be made instead, is not going to sell as well.

So those releases are not nearly so appealing to the businesses that have to foot the bill for the possibly 500'ish people worldwide who might buy for example, Grand Moff Tarkin (hey, I'm a Peter Cushing fan too).

Plus, once you have counted out the people who didn't like the head sculpt..who reckoned the proportions were wrong.. the uniform wasn't screen accurate.. the figure was too expensive.. and of course the sizable group of people who changed their minds after pre-ordering, because a (more iconic) Star Wars figure, Iron Man, Terminator, Batman, etc was released at the same time..there was only enough cash in the kitty for one figure, so the Tarkin order got canned, because the other figure was more desirable and tough choices had to be made.
Not to mention the fact that a fair number of the Collectors who want Tarkin, are savvy enough to know he would end up on discount.. unless he was a very limited release.

So, what you actually end up with is a sales profile like The Crow.. and that is why so far Tarkin has not been made..because equally, as far as the manufacturer is concerned Tarkin would be hogging production schedule, that could be dedicated to a more profitable figure.

I don't care how many IMs, Batmans, Supermans, etc are made. These have little to do with some of the stuff people complain about not getting made. Some of the complaints are for IPs that are so dated or niche, it's unlikely they're going to be made by anyone, much less HT.
