Things seem to have changed for the better recently. Shipping on a typical PF used to cost anywhere from $40-$70 US depending on size, and you were guaranteed to get nailed for roughly $50 CDN in handling and duty fees when it finally arrived.

But with my two last PFs, I've noticed a substantial difference. Shipping was only $25 US in both cases, and the duty fees amounted to less than $30 CDN, depending on the declared value of the piece.

So, it appears to be considerably cheaper to order direct from Sideshow at the moment, especially since the dollar will probably be at par or above the US dollar in a matter of days. But, were my two recent shipments indicative of shipping prices for the foreseeable future, or did I just get lucky?...I can't really say for sure.

If you set up an account with fed ex, it saves you a bit on the brokerage fees as well. You let sideshow know you have an account for the brokerage, and though it doesn't change your shipping fees, they will usually let fed ex know you have an account. This means you save an average of 10$ per piece they ship. Not much, but it helps. It also means they just bill your cc directly most of the time for the taxes and fees and you don't have to pay it when they show up at your door. It doesn't always work, sometimes sideshow forgets to tell fed ex, but I'd say 90% of the time I save the 10$. Hope that made sense.

l just went to this website www.thefinalcost.com and if l order the jack sparrow pf the charges will be insane. if sideshow ships fed ex, the figure is $320 plus about $30 for shipping it says ill have to pay $21.31 in tax, wich you cant get around,$8.88 conversion $42.93 brokerage and $6.20 disbursement. thats almost $80 at my door, and threw usps it will be less then $30. l think ill buy him second hand and get it shipped usps if this info is correct.

Well, through USPS it's anywhere from $40 to $60 shipped Priority (cheapest that comes WITH tracking and insurance. I paid just over $40 for the Count Dooku shipped USPS from an E-Tailer, and around $50 for the Aragorn PF - bigger box and heavier than Dooku).

If you read $30 shipping for a PF, that might be for First Class mail delivery, which doesn't come with tracking or insurance, so if it gets lost or broken, you're screwed. I'd go Priority.

When I get SS Exclusives, it's usually around $80 or so. $25 for shipping, and then another $60-ish in FED-EX cross-border and brokerage fees.

I have no idea where that site gets their information from, but its wrong. I have ordered from Sideshow directly for years and the the extra "fees" you pay are: tax (GST+PST), Fedex fee ($10), and sometimes duties depending what person handles the paperwork ($0-$40). That's it. If you want I can post some of my Fedex invoices over the years and the piece its for to give you an idea.

Seems to be around $25 on the US end and GST + 11 dollars at the door.
This is what it has been for my last 3 shipments from sideshow.

pf price 299 shipping is 40 dollars costums fees 90 dollars.
remeber this is all in US dollars.

so a pf end's up costing me $429us
wish I had an adress in the michigan USA

Are your numbers all wrong???
I thought customs and duties on a $300 Pf would be close to $100-$120

well the guy sent the pf as a gift and declared it at $200 value and the wb site l gave the duties all together they said about $30.but once a member here sent me a pred 2 and put the pred box in a big box and wraped the pred up and put it in the box and declared it at $250 or so and only paid $15 at the door so we will see.

Right Right.....
I understand what your saying, but ordering from Sideshow directly, they do not mark items as "gift" and declare at lower values...hence, duties could be as much as $100:horror

A good rule of thumb is if you want the exclusive, you buy direct from Sideshow. Otherwise, order the regular version from a Canadian online distributor.

hell ya l got my darkness pf today from the states.it was declared at $200 and the fees were only $15.05. l thought it was going to be $30.rule of thump use usps.love it it came fast to.

I'm always happy to hear of sideshow pieces making it across the border. One less for those lucky bastard Americans:lol:peace

It sounds like that is no longer the case though if what people above are saying about the Fedex rates are consistently true.

Sideshow shipping through FedEx to Canada has become a lot cheaper lately. I've gotten a piece a week for the last few weeks and I've noticed a big difference.
