I was hoping the Blitzway Marilyn statue would win but it came in at a respectable second in some categories. That statue surprised me, I was not expecting it to become one the favorites in my collection.
Great reading through all the Best/Worst selections to revisit 2015.
While this hobby still has a lot gripes and imperfections (i.e. poor quality control, finished pieces not living up to the prototypes, rising prices, endless Iron Man pieces), I feel it has come a long in way in terms of not only the variety of product lines but also the quality - I can't help admire some of the artistry that went into the Marilyn or Hermione statue/figures for example. To a certain extent, we are in the midst of a golden age of this hobby.
I've been a collector all my life but only truly entered into the high end market relatively recently (in 2012 with the Hot Toys Reeves Superman). So I'm a relative noob in the hobby but I look back at all the previous efforts that paved the way until this point. Complaints aside, I am definitely appreciative of how far this hobby is come.*
* for the record, I do think we should hold these companies to a higher standard when they don't deliver on their promises
