Announced today... it's coming to the U.S.!

Pretty interested in this one. Looks whacked, freaky and all kinds of bizarre fun. It's been outselling games like Marvel vs Capcom 3 in Japan:

Atlus has just made official what we'd been hoping all along: That freaky Catherine would be coming to America.

The game will be hitting these shores sometime in the summer for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Catherine tells the story of Vincent, a man stuck between his girlfriend Katherine and the alluring Catherine, but the game looks to get a lot weirder than that.

See for yourself in this last trailer. It features ridiculous hairstyles, a dude with sheep horns, and the usual unspeakable abominations. Plus, I think that's a rocket-powered confessional booth:

I already decided months ago that I'd be buying this even if it wouldn't be localized for the US. So I'm happy it will be released in my region. Being a fan of previous Atlus games such as the Persona series, I'm looking forward to this.

It's probably too 'anime weird' for this board though, even moreso than by the usual standard.

I've had my eye on this title for a while now. I had no idea there were no plans for a US version until today, I guess I just assumed we'd be getting it here too.

I don't think I'm in for $60 though, I'll check it out when the price comes down a bit.

I'm totally fine with paying $60. Atlus isn't a big company and have only recently begun putting out titles for HD consoles. They deserve the support. I've dropped $60 on games by more affluent publishers that only last 8-10 hours (if even that). If Catherine is anything like previous Atlus titles you'll get your money's worth.

I loved their Trauma Center games on the Wii. I guess I'm just a little sore from paying $50 for those games, only to have them drop to $15-$20 very close to release (when I bought the games). I guess I could suck it up and support the cause...

This looks neat but as I understand it it's basically just a puzzle game, albeit a Silent Hill-esque one.

And is it just me or does Vincent look a lot like Spike from Cowboy Bebop?

You make a good point. I may be biased because I love Atlus and was going to import this game at ridiculous prices if it wasn't going to be localized. The way I see it, $60 for an original IP that we are lucky to get over here is not bad. I've certainly spent that much on worse.

Big Atlus fan, love Odin Sphere and persona 3. I was excited first time I heard about this game but I'm kinda reluctant to pick this up now after reading that it is mainly a puzzle game.
