I bought two figures off the marketplace, and they came in today. I asked the seller before the sale about smoking and was told they were kept away from sunlight and no smoking. Got them today, and they reek of smoke! Problem is... I'm allergic to some chemicals in cigarette smoke! Started sneezing blood so I'm having to take my allergy medicine. Called up a friend who wrapped them in dryer sheets and placed them back in their containers. Any chance the smoke/chemicals are removable? I may try baking soda as well. Problem for me is having to remove the smell and chemicals.

Sorry that you have to deal with this, is there any way you can send the items back and get a refund?

I feel your pain. I'm allergic to smoking as well.

I bought a leather computer bag once from a thrift store that reeked of smoke. My mom threw it in a bag with a bunch of kitty liter.

It got rid of the smoke 100% I can't smell it at all or give me breathing problems.

Which figures were they? If they were rubber then I'd be careful as to what products you put on it...

Whats up with these people either not mentioning or even lying about smoking around their figures. They're really taking a chance with their buyers.

Unfortunately anything I sell is going to be coming from a smoking home but I bloody well make particular mention of the fact. I also do what I can to minimise the exposure. I don't get these people taking the chance that the buyer won't complain and look for a refund.

I used to live in a city called Hong Kong in China and those video game arcades are full of smokers despite there's a clear no smoking sign which everyone including the staff ignores.
So anyway, everytime I enter and exit my clothes smell like cigarette.
I have to wash them right away to get rid of that smell. If there's fabric pieces I can you can try to wash them. The rest like plastic of rubber I suggest you can try leaving them in an open window or a fan to take away some smell. Hope that helps

I bought a Medicom Goku on Ebay and it came it with a smoke/moldy smell to it. It was pretty bad so I had to actually wash the clothing, put febreze on it and then sun dry the hell out of it. It was better afterwards. Good luck with your figures man!

Kitty Litter works. and so does charcoal.

Well I just put my OC Bats in a bag with a bunch of kitty litter and the cigarette smoke smell has gone but now it smells of catshhit. Thanks a lot you arseholes

Washing machine with country scent stain remove and spin cycle.
You're figure will be destroyed but it'll smell amazing!

Ugh, nevermind. Dryer sheets didn't help at all. The seller sounds apologetic and should be able to give me a full refund/return.

Still a crappy experience and a waste of a sick day from work. :( Hopefully they'll let me come in and work on my normal day off. Need to preorder some stuff.

In all seriousness and if it's not too late, bicarb soda in a container together with the figure was a tip mentioned recently in another thread. Sounds like a good solution - cheap and easy so definitely worth a shot before you go down the refund route.

I let mine air out for a week in the garage which did the trick. Might try the laundry sheet next time though, a little odor of Bounce would do a 1/6 good :D

I bought a curio off of Craigslist. It was such a "smoking" deal, I picked it up even though it reeked of cigarettes. After a few years, the smell is all but gone now. I hope the statues that are in it didn't pick anything up. I don't think they did, because like I said, I can't smell smoke anymore.

If you paid through paypal l would of filed a dispute. It's your health at risk since the guy lied to you about a smoke free home. If that is to late l would constantly spray water on it, let it dry then do that again, over and over. maybe put some chemicles in the water as well.

smokers are ____ing retarded. it is obviously apparent that smoking must be destroying brain cells of these sellers. i wouldn't keep this trash. send it back and tell him to shove it up his ass.
