Is it just dust or also finger prints and... maybe even drool prints?

Just some TFT screen cleaner should to the trick, you can by it at a computer store or multimedia store.

SOS pad or some type of harsh scrubbing device

or

what they use to clean a camera lens.

You can also just use a damp paper towel or rag, just don't spray the screen. The reason for that is because the liquid can go down to the bottom of the screen and then come up inside the screen and you can't ever get it out.

get an approved electronics cleaner or do what i do, shut off monitor until it is cool, get a soft rag and dampen in with some hot water, then gently clean the screen in line, and not in swirls.

Load a naked picture of Kate Beckinsale then masturbate all over the screen. When finished, wipe with a wet towel before it dries. At least that's what I would do.

Actually, to be serious for a moment, to clean a screen, I'd just use a paper towel (or a softer cloth, if you'd like) with some water. And another dry piece to wipe up the excess moisture, if any.

But then again, all that's on my screen is dust. I don't treat it like it was Kate Beckinsale, or talk to it, or really even touch it. I just don't party with my computer screen as much as I should.

If there is something (fingerprints or... worse) that won't go away after using water, then try something else.

Thanks for the advice I'll try this over the brillo pad or masterbation tactic..

My problem is I sneezed on the screen.. So there are annoying dots everywhere.. Ya thats it...

Yeah, the problem is abrasive cleaners might dick with any special coating that may be on the screen. And the 'screen wipes' made especially for this task, often leaves residue behind too, so I thought, what's the point?

You know what I found that works great for cleaning my notebook computer screen? I've got a soft lense cloth that I bought at a camera shop. It cleans off dust, but also catches any oily residue from fingerprints, sneezes or other ... fluids.

Something like that wil work great and all camera shops have them. No cleaning solutions required! They're made to protect extremely expensive optical glass, so they're be fine for your LCD screens.
