This sounds great! I can't wait for the new season!!

‘Clone Wars’ season two to be darker, more violent

Clone-wars Season two of Cartoon Network’s “Clone Wars” will be more for grown ups than the first, says series supervising director Dave Filoni at Comic-Con.

“Season one we had to develop the series and we started it like typical cartoon,” Filoni said.

But by the end of the first season, the team had started taking the show in a different direction, with less of "the 'Roger-Roger battle droid'" stuff and is now planning to embrace a style that's more similar to the feature films.

“For season two, we made it a lot more intense," he said. "Little more violent. The villains are evil ... we have to kill Jedi ... people start losing limbs in season two.”

In season one, LucasFilm outlawed putting bounty hunters into the show. That changes big time in season two, with franchise fan favorite Boba Fett coming in.

Filoni notes that for all his immense reputation, fans never really got to see Fett do all that much action in the Star Wars films, except "get his gun cut in half by Luke."

Other bounty hunters include Bossk (the lizard-thing with the big toenails in "Empire Strikes Back") and a new villain named Bane, who's based on the film persona of classic spaghetti Western star Lee van Cleef. In terms of animation, the show will feature more water (which is tricky to animated) as well as lava, when the action shifts to Mustafar.

"In season two you're going to unlearn a lot of what you have learned about 'Star Wars' in general," Filoni said.

Also, "Clone Wars" season one comes out on DVD and Blu-ray Nov. 3, including directors cut extended versions of seven of the episodes.

Boba Fett was still a kid during the Clone Wars--not sure how much they're going to do with him. It would be interesting to see him on the live action show, though.

Very promising news regarding the next season, and exciting to know that the first season will hit DVD soon.

As far as no Bounty hunters, what about the guys that kidnapped Obi-Wan, Anakin and Dooku, or the ones that had their heads shipped to Jabba in the movie, that comment just made no sense to me, but whatever.

I think that he might have meant using "familiar" bounty hunters from the movies.

Very interesting regarding the bounty hunters. I just hope it doesn't turn into "Chronicles of Young Boba Fett".

This show definitely needs to be more edgy. Some of the episodes have been more cute than cool.

They do use growth accelerators on the clones in Attack of the Clones except for Boba but I would venture to guess he decides to use those on himself to exact some revenge.

From the Star Wars.com databank:

The Kaminoans employed growth acceleration techniques to effectively double the rate of clone development. Without such measures, it would take a full life-time to grow a mature clone. Their adult clones were ready for combat in less than a decade.

That could be an option, I suppose. But I'm pretty sure the growth acceleration was on the genetic level, implemented before the clones were born. Not sure how Boba can use it.

What concerns me is the comment about "unlearning a lot of what we know".

I just rewatched the clone scene in Attack Of The Clones and the only thing in the movie referencing the genetic alterations was that they were made to make the clones less independent and more docile than the original host. The growth accelerators are mentioned separately so it could be open for interpretation.

Mandalorians are pretty bad ass, if Boba is being trained by some other Mandalorian bounty hunter I think it could work. But really he's too young I think. I hate to say it, but it seems more like a gimmick.

Boba was not genetically enhanced or tampered with. That's the whole point of his uniqueness compared to the thousands of clones running around in the galaxy.

good to hear the second season will be "darker". but i didn't think the first season was as "childish" as they let on. it had a few dark parts. Asajj stabbing a pilot from behind his seat. clones being blasted out of their ships and into space. kit-fisto's apprentice meeting his fate from grievous. probably a few other moments. definately not saturday morning material.

I thought that too at first, but perhaps he just means in terms of story telling and visuals and all that. That what we have as preconceived notion of what watching a show or movie called Star Wars should be like, is going to be shattered by what we see in the next season of Clone Wars. Could also just be hype to build up excitement for season 2.

In the Star Wars board, the production sketches showed Boba as a kid still but there will be other Mandalorians this year that were shown in the trailer for Season Two as well as a visit to Mandalore.
