im a fan of a ton of properties, im not a completist so anything goes really but can you explain to me why you would force yourself to be focused(even though i assume you are a fan of other properties as well)?

For me, if i like it , i get it(or try to), i dont force myself not to only because it isnt my focus, ya know?

I collect-statues, action figures, bust, movies, trading cards of the following-
1.predator
2. aliens
3.terminator

I don't force myself,I just don't like them PERIOD.

I would get the FP POTA but it doesn't look right, waiting for the Hot Toys with their whole line to make a decision.

I still need, the PF's Bruce Lee,Indi,Jaws,Elvis...:naughty

To me, buying every little item that comes along dilutes the impact of the few truly exceptional items out there.

I have three 1/6 figures ... Enterbay Jack Bauer, HT BR Joker, SS Indiana Jones. I only buy the best figures of those characters that I consider iconic enough to warrant a figure.

I would likely buy a great Jason Bourne, James Bond, Superman, Tony Almeida, or John McClane. I think there is a reasonable chance of one or two of those coming out (in high quality) eventually. I've looked into the Hot Toys Superman -- though I will likely just wait for whatever reboot they conjure up. I'm on the fence about Batman and Harvey Dent (Dent has a special place for me ... I am an Assistant District Attorney).

I've seen the previous Bond incarnations, Bourne knock-offs, and McClane clones, and I wasn't impressed. I think the chances are actually pretty good that Enterbay makes a Season 7 Tony Almeida, though.

There are other characters that would be notable -- but the figures would have to be absolutely superb for me to even consider them ... Zod from Superman II; Lex Luthor or Clark Kent from Smallville; Maximus from Gladiator; Benjamin Martin from The Patriot; Kirk, Spock or Bones figures from Star Trek XI; maybe a character or two from The Departed. I see little to no chance of any of those coming out ... but they would get a glance from me if they did.

"Completism" is an affliction I will simply never understand. Spending thousands upon thousands of dollars on stuff that just gets lost in all the clutter (or boxed and placed in storage) makes no sense at all. Buy the best, and display it well ... leave the rest on the store shelves.

I collect mainly star wars. The only pieces i have ( or will have ) that are not star wars related are the HT Godfather, Mattel Ghostbusters and if anybody would ever make any SG-1 12" figures.

Man you said it. Thats basically how I feel.

I go with my absolute favs. Ive bought just to buy before or just cause I had one thing I felt I needed the other to go with it. I sold it all and started over. Came up with a plan. Chose the space I would use and display I feel would look the best but not overpower the room. Then I chose the different franchises. Star Wars being 50% and the other 50% on other Movies, sports, and entertainment. Im on my way back and have chose mostly SSC 1/6th, HT 1/6th, SSC PF and Dio. But only a select few of the PF and Dio line.
Anyway Ive gone through so many different display cases and collectibles its sick and now I feel so much better having a plan going in.
Put it on word and plan is my best advice.

I still feel like I need to trim the Star Wars 1/6th list I have.

Mostly into 1:1's from Terminator, Predator, Alien & Ironman.

So far i've got Arnie 1:1 Bust, Endoskull 1:1, Endo Arm 1:1, Wolf Predator Bust, Ironman Bust, Alien Warrior Bust, HCG Predator Bio, T2 Rosebox Shotgun & T2 Chip Flask.

I've got a few 1/6 figures: Ironman Mark III & Mark II (Mark I on order) & Predator Dutch figure. I think the Ironman figures i'm going to get rid of and just stick to 1:1. The only exception will be Dutch because the likeness is awesome.

And i've got the T2 Premium format figure, but i'm debating whether to keep it or not, just doesn't fit in when everything else is 1:1.

I like a lot of stuff, but am not a completest.

GIJoe and Star Wars are my main lines with bits of Terminator, Indy, Superheroes and monsters/slashers sprinkled in.

My main line is LotR but I will collect a cool figure or PF from a movie or character that I really love, but won't collect the whole line.

my main thing is obviously superman..also batman and iron man, gi joe

i am not into star wars, alien, star trek..i LOTR but don't intend on collecting it.. there is just too much out there.. i'm not into all the superheroes..i might get a captain america or a spiderman and that's it

i do like everything else but i do not collect every item that is out there.. only the few that i consider collection worthy..

i am very picky with what i buy..

I try to (in 1/6) stick with characters I loved from movies I loved, trying to limit to a maximum of 2 per franchise. Then I send their heads off to my favorite painter on the boards if he agrees, and try to replace bodies, and clothes where ever beneficial.

So far I've got The Joker, Jack Sparrow, The Man With No Name, Han Solo, House and Wilson, and Medicom's Old Snake.

Every 1/6th scale figure aside from 1 (Old Snake) is awaiting a repainted head, new clothes, or new sculpt.

i agree with u guys about the completist mentality. makes no sense, because in the end, the pieces do not have a chance to stand out unless u have the space to display them all individually. and unless u own a museum/mansion/castle, i doubt that can happen.

i started out with 1/6 stuff. i collected only the characters i truly liked.

then i started getting into pfs and comiquettes.

i've since graduated to 1:1 replicas. i love the look and feel of a life-sized replica. it makes me feel like i'm owning a physical part of the movie.

another rationale for my collecting habits is the design element. there are times where i wasn't that big a fan of the movie (eg: the rocketeer, avp2) but HAD to have the 1:1 helmets and bios cos the designs were simply fantastic.

cos to me, these are works of art. maybe not as highbrow as fine-arts sculptures in an art gallery, but to me they are no less precious. and i'd never sell them off for anything. i love my collection with all my heart. :dance
