Can I scale down a sewing pattern for a real outfit to 1/6 or does it not work that way?

It is sort of, but the tolerances are very small and also the order at which things are assembled plays a major role.

I'm guessing it's similar but you will always have to measure and adapt it to a specific body.

Definitely true.
It was a major PITA to make my Freddy Kruger sweaters because getting the fit to look just right took MANY tries and wasted fabric.
...And then when I weathered them to make them look dirty, they shrank!!
:gah:

Choice of fabric is the most important overriding aspect of making 1/6 scale clothing. The right fabric will allow you to scale down the stitching pattern. I don't even start a project until I've done a ton of research into how a specific fabric looks in different folds and cross stitch patterns.
