This is my first custom resin statue "bash". I'm a total n00b when it comes to this type of build. I've never even bought a resin model kit before, but I've always loved the Kill Bill poster and wanted to recreate it as a 3D model display. I wasn't too impressed with any of the other bride statues I've seen so I decided to modify an existing statue with a similar pose. I'll admit this one has a bit more, ahem . . . sex appeal as well.
I started with a Poison statue I found from the Street Fighter series:
I removed the hat and sculpted some new hair strands with air dry clay. (any suggestions on a good material/product for this type of work. Something I can sculpt with high detail and is easy to sand with minimal shrinkage?)
I also made a belt and a few other pieces as a foundation of the pants and jacket. They shrunk quite a bit though so I wasn't able to use all of the pieces.
After some initial putty added. I used some Tamiya white putty and Testors contour putty. Man this stuff stinks!
A bit of sanding.
And more sanding.
I also cut the arm off at this stage closer to the shoulder so I can reposition it.
I couldn't really tell where I was at so I added some white and yellow paint. I probably should just hit it with spray primer.
Here is the arm I cut into pieces so I could reposition it. And the sword I'll be using:
That's where I'm at so far.
Here is a quick mock up I drew on my galaxy note 2 phone to get a better idea of what it should look like finished:
I also did a quick photoshop rendering of what I want the final display to look like.
And the actual poster I'm trying to match:
More soon!
Thanks for any input you may have guys.
