Hi all, I've put together a custom supergirl and will be posting pics soon. I used the Medicom Deathnote Misa and dressed her in the new Supergirl Barbies' outfit. The costume fits perfectly and looks quite a lot better on Misa than it does on the Barbie and she make a great Supergirl. Alas there's one problem, the Barbie boots evidently have a molding inside them that fills half the boot, so Misa's feet won't even fit in them.

I was hoping I could get some suggestions on purchasing some red boots for Misa to wear to complete the Supergirl costume. She should be able to fit in any boots that fit standard 1/6 scale female figures i.e. Hot Toys, Takara, Triad Toys, but my searches don't bring up any decent plain red boots.

Okay, I finally have some pics to post. Sorry it took a while...I was busy yesterday stuffing my face with turkey. :)

That actually turned out pretty neat. Good job.

These are the best ones suited (to my knowledge) for what you need, but they're pricey. Also, I'm not sure if they're "bootfeet" or not, and the figure you have doesn't appear to have removable feet. You could ask the seller, I suppose.

Most of the 1/6 female boots out there are thigh-high whore boots, so it gets tough to find anything practical in that particular genre. You can always do an ebay search for "Cy red boots" and see what you come up with.

If all else fails, I think I would grab a pair of plastic military boots and paint them myself. For such a cartoony character it wouldn't hurt if they looked a little "clunky". Something like these:

Hope this helps!:whip

Actually her feet do come off above the ankles. I did see the boots on Ebay and thought they were pricey too and as you have stated most of the half way decent boots are the thigh high hooker boots with buckles or laces on them. I'm just looking for some plain red boots. I did consider some of the military boots, but I'm not sure if they will look too big or not because they are designed for the male figures.

BTW, the figure does look outstanding in person, the pics just came out a little crappy because of lighting and make her look a little more cartoony.

No I think it's pretty cool, actually. I never would've thought of using a Barbie outfit for such a project.

A few of those lace-up red boots on ebay look like the laces are removable, so you may explore that option.

Good luck, and great work! :whip

Thanks, the thought just came to me. I saw some of the new super heroine figures Mattel was putting out and know several collectors are purchasing the figures (even though they'll never admit it, why is the Black Canary figure selling out everywhere), but I just didn't like how the Supergirl figure looked. I thought her costume look amazing, but the figure just looked like Barbie dressing as Supergirl, so I looked up at Misa standing on my shelf and said to myself that she would make a better Supergirl. That was when I committed to the project and ended up buying a Barbie (even though I'll probably end up selling the Barbie body) and dressing Misa in the outfit, minus her boots. I was pleasantly surprised at how well the outfit fit, it fits better on Misa than it does on Barbie. As you can see, Misa has fuller hips and better arm articulation than a Barbie does.

Mattel has a Wonder Woman coming out in December, so I was thinking of doing the same thing with her. Problem is, I can't think of a good 1/6 scale female figure that could be Wonder Woman.

That would be a tough one to find. Most raven-haired sculpts are asian :lol

I have a feeling there's about to be an onslaught of 1:6 fem stuff with HT jumping into the game so maybe they'll start veering away from hookers and provide some cool stuff.

Well, here we go again. I hope somebody in the custom forums can help me find out where I need to go to get some red boots for my customized Supergirl.

Thanks Craw, I'm going to order that outfit you PM'd me. Unfortunately, it's not going to be available until January. I may use them for Wonder Woman though, she should be out around that time frame (just need a body and face that will work for her).
