Probably the Medicom Reloaded Neo, though HTs made a pretty damn good bootleg Matrix 1 Neo back before they were official, though the body and Headsculpt isn't as good as Medi's Neo.

The bootleg Famous figure is better than Medi's IMHO, just because it's based on the only GOOD Matrix movie. Those sequels raped my 10 minutes ago!

I own a HT Bootleg, The costume and holsters are nice, the base body and head need to be replaced though, a repaint wouldn't save the sculpt. The glasses' frames are etched from a thin piece of metal with tinted film lenses and would need to be replaced with something less flimsy. It suffers from HT's notorious monkey armed generation 1 body (makes Jedi Luke seem realistically proportioned). The weapons are decent, but a little on the large side if I remember correctly. I also think he's missing a few holsters and hand guns.

Medicom Reloaded Neo looks very good if a bit on the small side. There's a Medicom Real World Neo out there too, but It's very uninteresting to me.
What ever you do, don't get a Medicom Trinity to accompany him. She's nothing more then a clothed statue.
There's also the terrible N2 figures, don't waste your money on them.

You could also bash together a Reloaded Neo from a Triad Toys chosen one jacket, and a Gentle Giant Neo Bust which I believe is 1:6 scale (I don't know exactly).
I think going the custom route might have the best results. But if you don't want to bother, Medicom's Reloaded Neo is the best available.

I like the HT Neo figure... he didn't seem that monkey-armed to me, but the bendy hands are a bit odd. The sculpt (IMO) is serviceable and looks enough to be recognizable as Keanu, but not enough for them to get sued. The outfit, coat boots and holsters are all nice. And the trench has the wires for posing.

Also, I agree with Dave about preferring this one since it is from the first movie, and not one of the abysmal sequels :monkey3

That's a great pose. Yeah all the early HT figures had monkey arms. I don't think the Famous type figures had anything different.
It might be a worth wild upgrade to get one of those Gentle giant busts, lop off it's head and attach it to a True Type body.

OMG! Where did you get that V figure in the background. Forget the neo. LOL! I loved that Mini series. Of course I was just a little kid. I remember that Dianna women being a serious babe. Plus you had the Beast Master himself! Nice find.

I believe that was the figure released back in the early 80's. I also owned one, even though I never heard of V (what kid couldn't pass up a lizard man doll?).

I actually saw 2 Neo's on ebay using the HTs gear and Headsculpt(DRASTICALLY repainted) that looked almost exactly like Keanu in the original Matrix.

I thought the fight scenes in Reloaded were some of the best, though Morpheus' preaching was kind of wearing thin.:monkey5

Yeah, Reloaded was actually an okay movie, but Revolutions was so bad that I just wrote off the two sequels :lol

I think the HT would be drastically improved with a repaint (wish I'd seen those auctions) and corrected sunglasses since the ones HT made have no relation to the movie. The Basebody could probably be replaced, although I don't think it would make a huge difference because even if he does have monkey arms you can't really tell because of the coat... but I wouldn't mind getting posed hands rather than the rubbery meat hooks he currently has :rotfl

And Badmoon, Screamingmetal is right... thats the V figure from LJN and was made in the 80's. Although there were some other toys (blaster, etc) I think this was the only figure they ever made and a favorite of mine. You can find them on eBay usually for around $50 if MIB and under. I got mine for a mere $25 shipped about 7 years ago :D

Agreed.

Luckily, I saved the pics of the figure to my computer, ask and ye shall receive;

I can see why it looks so nice... not the same headsculpt. Or if it is, its been modified. The hair has way more detail than the HT... and the features are a bit more deeply cut.

Also, not sure about the coat and clothing, but pretty sure the boots are new as well. The HT boots are a bit clunky (common for figures this old) and definitely don't have the flex or as fine a detail as those.

Doh! You're right, GB. I did a google search and found out that it's actually the GG Neo head but heavily repainted. My bad.

You just missed two Medicom Neos on eBay that went relatively cheap ($125-$140).

As for customs, I too would recommend the head from a Gentle Giant bust with the Triad Toys costume, like Duckgoo used:

I'd also love to see Hot Toys add The Matrix to their Movie Masterpieces line.

For the record, I loved the two sequels, if only for the concepts they introduced and some fantastic sequences (eg the Architect's Room and Neo vs Smith final duel).

I thought the two sequels were good enough sci-fi films.... but the first one was a great film.

I've always wanted a good Neo figure... but from the first film. I thought the look they gave him for the sequels was too designed. I liked the cool 'more real' look from the first film

that custom above... WOW... how much do I want that!!!

that custom neo looks to be a gentle giant head on a medicom body with the N2toys outfit. just my opinion, but that neck joint looks horrible. you could make yourself a figure like that for probably $60.(the price of a gentle giant bust and an N2 toys neo)

I hope we get some for the 10th Anniversary. Hot Toys preferably.

Too bad the Medicom body isn't free :lol But I think you're right about the N2 clothing... at least the pants look very similar, not sure about the boots though. Does anyone have some clear pictures of the N2 figure?

I love those two customs! I agree with you Darren, the sequels were cool sci-fi but the first one was an amazing movie! I wouldn't mind more Matrix figures and HT's would be my company of choice to do them since I have the Medicom Reloaded Neo already.

At present I'm upgrading my Hot Toys Neo figure by ditching the body and putting all the clothes and gear onto a newer Hot Toys body with a Gentle Giant head. I'm still in the process of resculpting the neck so that it transitions well between the head and the Hot Toys neck post. I'll post photos as soon as I'm done with it.
