I'm thinking of doing some tinkering.

Thing is, I've never been happy with the way the Vader PF has those cloth bits going over the pauldrons. I realize that it's accurate to the Episode IV costume, but I'm more into the look in ever other film, in which the cloth goes beneath the pauldrons.

Here are some pics for reference:

You can see here in the top pic from Sideshow how the cloth goes over the pauldrons, in sharp contrast to the lower image, in which they are tucked beneath them. Love that second look. I want my Vader PF to have that look. What's the best way to achieve it?

Thanks! :D

Good thing you posted pics cause no one here would have noticed his tunic is shown both ways in the films.

Nothing to it, Terry. Get some scissors, knives, hammers, needles, thread and pliers, and go to work.

And come back when you've earned another $350... :rotfl

Throw in some glue, and we might be on to something, Vlad. :lol

But I'm hoping to get some input on a nice clean way to go about it. Maybe no such method exists, but I'm hoping someone here can offer some input.

send him to me, ill do it,been dying to get my grubby mits on one of these.....go on you know you want to.......plus to replicate either of the other Ot versions, youll need to alter the gloves/chest box/belt boxes/mask/tusks/shoulder bells/chest armor......

The sideshow vader really is not anh more of a cross between all the films like the hasbro 12inch darth vader figures.

I can give you advise as I know a thing or too about vader props.
........................................................................
the helmet-the lower chin vent needs to be resculpted larger.
The mask needs to be painted gunmetal with black accets. The mask was never just black like sideshow did.
the dome needs to be glossy black.
gunmetal vents
silver tusks.
............................................................
Armor-gunmetal and black glossy
..............................................................
chestbox-replace the green light with a blue light.
............................................................................
the gloves need pleats that go from the wrist to the elbow.
.................................................................................
Belt- is fine
.................
Belt boxes- are fine
.........................
Cape-is fine
............................
under robe-is fine
........................
boots are fine.
....................
Shin gurads are fine.
...........................................................
All of the armor and plastic parts are glossy.
..................................................................

I think that should just about do it.

Good luck
Billy

The shoulder bells would have to be scupted to fit the armor correctley I forgot about that and also a chain would have to be added to the chest armor.I collect replica star wars props im a big darth vader fan.

Yeah, it would take a Jedi Vader for me to dump the one I have. (And I would.) But I don't see that one as being in the cards.

Maybe they can make all the necessary changes to the existing Vader, and offer a ROTJ version as a SDCC exclusive.

:maul :maul :maul :maul :maul

You're a fraking genius, Vlad. :chew :chew

C'mon, Sideshow. :rock The gauntlet has been thrown down. Bring it, people!

Muchas gracias -- and yes, I'd get that one even if it ended up shipping in the same month as PF Fett, Maul, and the Luke & Yoda set.

don't feel bad Monk. i REALLY wanted that fabric up under his shoulder bells too. even tried sliding the material up under there but it get's caught about halfway under (guess there's probably glue or something) and gets all krinkled up, looking like butt. only way i could think of doing it (w/o fully removing his head and shoulder armor) would be to cut a section out of the material, and glue it up under the bells. not sure i want it that badly. would probably screw the value of it altogether, tho u might be happy w/ the look!

The value of this one only extends so far as my personal value, Mookey, as I never intend to sell it. Oh, I know that there's a certain amount of satisfaction accompanying the knowledge that one of my collectibles is worth a bit of a mint. (My Ringwraith on Steed is worth double what I paid for it on a bad auction day. :D ) But I think I can work my way around it mentally in order to pull this off.

The long and the short of it is, that I will likely get around to doing the whole cut-and-paste thing eventually. It's just a matter of when.
