So we're moving forward with the reorganization of customs. We are adding Galacticboy and Elvis1976 as mods for this section and Buttmunch will also be overseeing here.

The new rules are in the Announcements at the top of the forums and I've copied them below.

You can see how I've consolidated Erick's (ZSKULPTOR) threads - each project has it's own "Interest" thread in Marketplace, but there is also a thread in Customs that has all the 1/6 portraits with a link to the Interest thread in the Marketplace.

I would ask any artist that wants to sell here to do something similar. However if an artist has multiple pics of an piece to just show off - then it should get it's own thread in the main Customs forum.

If an artist is selling through their own site - such as Rainman, Velvet Morning, etc. then they can post a thread about the piece in the Customs section and just have a link to their site and wouldn't need a thread in Marketplace.

If a project has been finished and delivered I haven't moved it - there's no point in cluttering up the Marketplace with things that aren't really available any more.

Here are the new guidelines - they are a work in progress and suggestions are welcome:
_____________

The Customs section is divided into three sections with different functions -

1) 1/6 Customs -
This is to show off your 1/6 customs, original sculpts, repaints, etc. Share info and ask questions on customizing 1/6 figures. Artists can show off their work in this forum, but should start a separate thread in Custom Marketplace to sell them. Any update on the item should be posted in the show-off thread, any details about ordering or shipping should go in the sales thread. THIS FORUM IS NOT FOR SALES.

2) Custom Marketplace-
This forum is for the sale of anything custom related from original sculpts to costume pieces to repaint services. Thread prefixes are required for this section, they are:

a) INTEREST - This is a thread an artist or an artist commissioner will start to gauge interest to see if it's worthwhile to pursue a project. There must be a clear and timely likelihood of the project being executed. Do not publish an "Interest" thread that is just a wish of what you'd like to see. It is expected that if the interest reaches the level the artist set with the first post that the project will be executed. It is against the rules of the forum for any money to change hands if delivery is expected to take longer than 30 days.

b) FOR SALE - This prefix is for a custom or custom item for sale that is completed and ready to ship.

c) AUCTION - For ebay auctions of custom items/figures.

What CANNOT be sold or auctioned -

1) Complete figures that have been mass produced (over 12 items) of any character from a Sideshow or Hot Toys license.

2) Any recast of a licensed product or a unapproved recast of a custom sculpt.

3) Customs - How To
This forum is for tutorials, references and any thread that is useful in the long term. Members should post inquiries in the general forum and a mod will move the thread or information to the How To forum if deemed necessary.

I am sorry... It seems I am confused... Does it means Sunohc cannot make any complete figure of Matrix anymore since Hottoys has already got the license?

Although I am just only a figure tailor that it won't hv any influence to me, but for other artists it seems it will be a big limitation to their job.

Apologies if I am missing something obvious, but where would non-1/6th customs go (thinking of statues, primarily, but also potentially articulated figures in smaller scales)? Thinking of something like the custom 1:1 scale Terminator that someone made recently. Doesn't seem like there is a sub-section where that would fit in the art forums. Would that stuff just fit in the subject matter section (i.e., Aliens/Robots, Disneyana, etc.)?

I am not a very influential guy on the boards, but I think it looks good to me. It might be redundant like most of you think, but it's well organized now, you have to click more IMO, but it's easier to navigate through custom work and custom work that is for sale.

Either way, I roll with the punches.

This forum is intended for all original 3D art. I tried renaming it a variety of times, but since 98% of the work is 1/6, I let that stay.

I'm open to suggestions.

For those who think the reorganization is pointless and redundant - thank you for your insightful and helpful comments.

We've seen no evidence that HT has the 1/6 license for Matrix. Ironically, one of their their first figures was a bootleg Neo.

The insight and helpful comments were in the other thread. They fell on deaf ears in favor of those that rarely participate in this section.

So, nobody can sell a Gary Oldman Commissioner Gordon, or a custom Boba Fett?? That sort of thing??

I think what he means is as long as it isn't a mass produced custom, with a run of more than 12 or so. If someone did a one off, then it would be fine or keep the run to a minimum.

At least, that is how I am seeing it. Please correct me if I am interpreting it wrong Dave.

I think you have it right unsung hero. But this rule is by no means new. :dunno

Pieces (clothing, accessories) are fine. Sculpts are fine. It's the 'full figure' in a run more than 12 (if it conflicts with a Sideshow or HT product) that's the problem.

One off customs are A-OK.

Correct. A one off isn't likely to cut into sales of licensed product - only when the numbers get up there is it likely to be a problem.

I guess it's just that I can't think of many who offer full figures. I know there's Rainman and Serang who do full figures. I just don't see the difference between a full figure and a figure project like xenoviper and Kato doing a Dexter.

I'm just trying to think of examples that break this rule, but I can't think of any, so I suppose it's just enforcing a rule before a problem arises.
