A couple of folks messaged me about in-progress build picks. I didn't do nearly as good a job as I'd have liked with them, but I did capture some stuff. We had about 11 months while our house was being built for me to design the basement based on the floorplan. Through about 20 different iterations, I came up with the design below which is pretty much to the letter how it turned out.



The recessed shelves are pretty basic. They're built with what I call ladders on either end and ladders for the top and each of the shelves. The important part is to design it in a way that allows drywall to be securely attached later.



I wanted an entrance to the media room that was very Star Wars



The drywall was the one thing I hired out. They put up all the board in a single day and took about seven days to mud, tape and finish it.




Here are a few pictures of my in-progress Han in Carbonite build. I got the face, body and side controls off eBay for a few hundred bucks. They were fiberglass and worked really well with auto putty to blend the two pieces together. The box itself was very simple, just regular plywood and some MDF board. Three coats of paint and I had a passable Han in Carbonite for about $500 total.

I think Proud is in double quotes, as I'm certainly proud of how it looks, not so proud of the dent in my retirement that it continues to make!

Haha yeah, oh well gotta live happy right. Besides retiring a year later and hanging out in the man cave sounds like a pretty sweet thing to do imo.
