Just thought I'd post what I'm currently working on, just primed, sanded some parts and will prime again! Having custom glass eyes made for him too! Excuse the lens distortion.

Yep, resin 1:1 bust! Thanks man, I'd like to take credit on the sculpt but I can't, but once I paint it it and finish it, then I'll take some credit lol. I plan on having the wife make his robes and cloak too!

Re: Darth Maul Bust WIP

Can't wait to see this thing once its finished. I can sure see Ray Park in the bust.

Thanks man, nice to see another fellow Maul enthusiast! Custom eyes take 6-8 weeks and I have a plaque coming any day now, slowly but surely this is coming along.

Re: Darth Maul Bust WIP

Phil (aka: Cyberman) is the sculptor of the bust. He's an awesome sculptor and I bought my cast personally from him to replace the head of the Pepsi statue I own. Still haven't painted it yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing you finish this great piece.

:hi5: for Darth Maul! lol

I'm sure its going to take some time to get this thing together but once it is I'm sure all the time and effort put in will pay itself off. I would someday love to somehow get myself a nice life-size Maul. I have no idea what the cost would be though.

Have you seen Gino's life-size Maul? It has to be one of the best Maul pieces I have ever seen.

Re: Darth Maul Bust WIP

Yeah Phil is gnarly, Vash your work is impeccable too! Gino I believe had Phil's help too if I'm not mistaken. Gino is an awesome guy and his work is meticulous and his efforts show how serious he is a sculptor and a fan!

I probably won't come close to what Gino and Phil did. I'd be happy if can make it look even 25% of what those guys did.

Ray Park likeness looks very good from here.
Paint will bring all of it together.
Glass eyes will bring it to life!

Thanks DarthAlias! I'm a fan of sculptors like Phil who show their true passion for the art and are always challenging themselves to top their own work.

Not much of a set up yet, I just removed the sculpted gloves off the statue and will hopefully get some poseable arms on there to hold my MR FX saber. I wish I had more time to focus on it, but we all know how that goes.
Painting the head will be priority, that's why I'm really looking forward to watching your progress to get inspired and get some tips.

Well this will be my first attempt ever, I do digital art as a hobby and know how to freehand draw so we'll see what happens. As always I will welcome any and all critiques and comments/suggestions!

Re: Darth Maul Bust WIP

Yea, i understand, i'm keeping my MR SE version because i like to have the ideal version as well as a screen accurate version too. I plan on starting the red paint today, more pics to follow later bro!

Re: Darth Maul Bust WIP

I'm sure its gonna be great to have both.

I'm really looking forward to see how the bust turns out. I could never do one of these myself because I am talentless with paint lol.

trust me bro, i have no skills with paint, i'm doing this myself because there really no blending skills needed other than his crown of spikes. Even the eyes i'm getting are glass so no need to paint eyes for him. I'm going into this as my first ever project having anything to do with paint lol....

Re: Darth Maul Bust WIP

Looks amazing DarthAlias! I will be watching your progress with this project with great interest.
Curious, how do you plan to install the glass eyes?
