Hi All

This figure was actually a commission job for (Josh) over on MOUSEDROID ,but ended up being a one for one project. In return for me doing this figure he's doing me a small section of a Star Trek (TWOK) bridge for me. He sent me the figure and I got started on finding pics from books and the net.

Once I found the references I wanted I started work on him, Josh wanted articulation to be on the figure still which once the armour was re-attached you still have 75%-80% articulation left. The other decision that we both tried to figure out was what type of base to do, Josh decided to leave it up to me so for me the easy choice was a Tatooine style base.

I decided on this type of base as it fits in well with any type of SW character and it sets the figure off without the base being to over powering and distracting from the figure itself. And hey Dengar would have been on some sought of desert planat once in his life.

RECIPE

Body - The body is from Sideshow Toys and it's the Bespin Luke one I liked it as it's a smaller size and works great with the armour and outfit. The head is from Hasbro and the gloves are from the Endor Soldier from Sideshow Toys.

Uniform & Equipment - The whole uniform is from Hasbro except the following, side pouches are from Endor Soldier from Sideshow Toys. The holster and pistol are from Sideshow Toys Bespin Luke, and the MG 34 is from Dragon Models. I also replaced the crappy forearm guards with guards from a Hasbro ROTS clonetrooper and added strips to that using plasti card. I aslo added leather straps to the arms, legs and crotch area.

Base - the base is from Sideshow Toys SW 1/6 line, I added marine foam on top and the side then roughly pulled pieces off and then added plaster of paris and fine sand, Once dry I painted the whole base to the desired colour.

awesome as always.............your sir.....ROCK THE KAZBAH ON CUSTOMS !!!!!!!! :D

EDIT: just wanted to add that your paint jobs to single molded pieces always make them look separated. well done !!!

Excellent work sir! Coincidently my Hasbro Dengar came in the post the other day and i've just finished the repaint...
First thing that struck me was how over bulky the armour looked on the body. Those forearm gauntlets look a bit too oversized. Sadlly however i don't have the time to swap the body or modify it so i've gone the lazy mans route and just stuck with what he came with. One thing i will say is, to reduce the bulky feel around the torso, i chopped into the straps and re glued it tighter to the body. Makes a hell of a difference...couple that with a face repaint and dry brush some detail into the armour, and i think a $15 figure looks like a $80 dollar SS piece!
I'm pretty impressed with this guy and its another character i'll be adding to my eventual Jabba's palace set-up:D

I love the custom work, Great Job!
Dengar was a fun figure to own, odd, but fun.

I think the Hasbro PUFFY Armor holds this custom job back. Outside of that, really nice job.

Very, very nice! And the Tattooine base is completely appropriate as Dengar was in Jabba's palace in ROTJ.

Actually, the head has always been my biggest disappointment with this figure.

I think using real cloth over a new head would be an even better improvement over your already great work.

HI All

Thanks for all the feedback and comments always appreciated, I for one when doing this custom was very put off by the bulky look especially when the jumpsuit and the armour on.

But after about 2 days of searching the net I noticed that he had that bulky look to him. And the pic that Darth Waller is showing is the pic that finally sold me.

Fat guy little armour. LOL. I customized mine afew years ago, seeing yours now I'm going to take another look at it and see what I can do to make it better. You did a great job.

Looks great to me!!! There's really a fine sculpt there under Hasbros lack of paint. Nice mods to armor and of course the Dragon rifle. Great detail work too and the base really brings it all together!
