Hi - I'm working on several diorama environments and I was wondering on the Detolf if they are a standard size shelf in USA, Canada, UK and everywhere? Thank you kindly!

Regards,
Ken

Personally I feel the detolf would be too small for a diorama. I would prefer something larger.

Its because so many people use them. I mean a lot of people use them lol

the actual glass shelf in 11 1/4" deep and 15" wide. The area inside is bigger then the actual shelf tho. Im in the US but it would make sense they are the same everywhere.

As the above excellent displays demonstraite detolfs are not to small you just have to be creative in how you put them together.

Those are great. Customs or own ?

Thanks. All the shelves are custom made by myself. They're all using an MDF/Masonite base. All the figures are stock retail except for the Medicom Henry Jones where I've swapped the body for a Hot Toys TTM22 Slim. The background on the Indiana Jones is the one that comes with the figure from Hot Toys, same for the altar. Everything else in that shelf from the floor to the ceiling and in between, I made (plaster ceiling and floor, real vines, real moss). The Superman shelf has a print I designed in Photoshop based on a screen capture and then printed. I added LEDs internally to one of the ice/crystal stands. Luke's background is again Photoshop and print, with the flooring being an MDF sandwich with internal LEDs and topped with a piece of 1/4" translucent white acrylic panel. Jones Sr. Photoshopped and printed back wall and floor, rug woven in Turkey, chair hand-made from eBay.

I designed and installed all the lighting, a mix of LED ribbon and 5mm white LEDs. Each shelf gets power from the Detolf's own rails, the left one being negative and the right one being positive. Connected under the cabinet to 12v power which comes from a transformer that's wired into a light switch on the wall controlling half the room. Another switch for the other half. There is no bare LED visible in any of my displays, which took some work, but pays off when you see only the cast light hitting the figures/shelf.

Very impressive. Thanks for sharing. You have inspired me to try out some new ideas. Will seek your advice / guidance if you permit.

Check my office thread linked in my signature as I include some early images of the Detolf setup, including how they're wired, plus some basic wiring diagrams.
