During the Spanish Civil War, Galland was appointed Staffelkapitän of a Condor Legion unit, 3. Staffel of Jagdgruppe 88 (J/88 – 88th Fighter Group),[Note 1] which was sent to support the Nationalist side under Franco at Ferrol from mid-1937. Galland flew ground attack missions in Heinkel He 51s. In Spain, Galland first displayed his unique style: flying in swimming trunks with a cigar between his teeth in an aircraft decorated with a Mickey Mouse figure.[24] When asked why he developed this style, he gave a simple answer:

I like Mickey Mouse. I always have. And I like cigars, but I had to give them up after the war.[25]

Chambea114, "Alert Line" had already released a very good Erich Hartmann figure, not too long ago.
I didn't like alert lines head sculpt but I understand what they were going for as Hartmann is a smiley boy in a lot of his pictures.

I initially thought the same thing but once I got it in hand, I was honestly fine with the head sculpt and figure, in general. Plus, it was quite an inexpensive figure compared to today's crazy priced releases.

I ordered a pair of them.

One to have almost fully kitted:

DID Adolf Galland (15).jpg

The other like this, which I think is a great look:

DID Adolf Galland (5).jpg

The parachute and life jacket look identical to the ones included with the Marseille accessory set, so I thought I could use the spare ones on the third figure I made from Marseille (in shirt and shorts), to make him more interesting.

Everything looks fantastic except for the mouths of the head sculpts. Without the cigar clenched, they look goofy, especially the smiling one. I wish that he would have come with one more serious sculpt.

In any case, I'll definitely be pre-ordering this one. I may be able to add some of the gear to my DML/Dragon Galland figure.

This is my favorite look, too:

I truly hope that DiD continues their Aviation and Space line in 1/6 scale.
