Because it would really suck if they do.

I didn't order Gollum PF while it was still in stock just because of the Non Refundable deposit and now that it's a waitlist item, and I try to get on the wait list, seems the cancellation fee also applies.

Are Cancellation Fees different from Non Refundable deposits? Do you get penalized twice if you preorder and item and then cancel, loosing you're NRD and cancellation fee penalty?

That just seems crazy to me. Expect less business from myself if this is the case.

This is the message I get when trying to place and order on a waitlist item.

Please Check that you agree with our cancellation Fee policy

Yes, I agree to the cancellation fee
A cancellation fee applies to this order. Checking this box indicates that you understand and agree to the cancelation fees. Learn more »

Are cancellation Fees new? I've never had to agree to that before. I guess we can no longer say "you can always cancel later." I understand why you're making the change, but it's just something that we've gotten comfortable with. So now if we order, we better start a budget, because there's no backing out without taking a decent hit to the wallet.

I'm just not feeling the changes that I'm seeing. But it's your company and my opinion matters little and I'm sure there is some sound fiscal reasoning for all the new rules and restrictions.

I think that's because if it converts then the fee will be charged.

I doubt they would charge a fee on waitlist--since you're not actually getting anything, a waitlist is because all the orders are taken. Because otherwise if your waitlist doesn't convert, you wouldn't be getting anything for your $30

Seems tricky, though. If you know a fee applies right away, then you make sure you have the funds and no worries. But you don't know what the future holds. If you are charged a fee when a waitlist converts without being given warning, then some folks may have funding issues whenever that waitlist conversion occurs (obviously, $30 or whatever isn't a big deal, but this may matter for items with, say $250 deposits).

I think the best solution, given what they are going for, would be to give the guy with the conversion the option to pay the fee right there, or the waitlist would go to the next guy. Charging a fee for canceling a waitlist reservation would be nutty IMO.

I wait-listed Vampirella and no fee charge yet. It wouldn't be logical to charge you for going on the wait-list, then again I think it's illogical to charge a NRD on flex-pay items since you already pay a cancellation fee.

Before your waitlist converts you're sent an email giving a date when it will convert, you can cancel before then if you no longer want the order--so it's not like it suddenly converts and charges the fee, you'll get an email beforehand
