So the old saying is that we only use 10% of our brains. Some educated folks say that's not true. We need brain power to control voluntary and non-voluntary function as well. Maybe we should factor in the possibility of a brain to body mass ratio as well. Maybe that's why those aliens have a big head and a small body...whateva! Certainly evolution didn't allow us a bigger brain than the other mammals for no reason. What are your thoughts? Myth busted? Pick your your own brains pls.

To add a twist to this topic....what happens to those who went through an accident, birth, or an illness which left them scared or basically half a brain and recovers? How much brains do we need to survive these days?

Even with a full brains, the saying goes: use it or lose it? With so few jobs that requires high thinking, do we really use it that much? Maybe reality shows and celebrities like Jersey Shores and Kim Kordashian gave us a bad image. But maybe looks and muscles are more secure in life these days?

Mythbusters proved we use almost 100% of our brains. But I think the saying is really trying to say there are areas of the brain that could be used for other things.

Nope, we use a lot more of it then 10% that's just a myth in psychology, along with polygraph tests, opposites attract, and the full moon theory (where full moons create more crime then on normal nights).

I remember reading that the saying was derived from an early American writer back in the early 1900s. Basically, it caught on, perpetuated itself, and alas, the notion still exists today.

There are so many biologically-active lobes of the brain, whether its the temporal, parietal, occipital and so on, that to use only 10% of that is analogous to something not compatible with life itself.

It's definitely an impressive organ to say the least, so this 10% 'business' is a slap in the face to all brains, everywhere! Good day, sir! :lol j/k

Try working in a mental health department. Cant speak for the crime...but the lunacy is definitely there.

that one is true sometimes, I remember watching a show on, either Discovery Channel or National Geographic, a show about cops and hospitals at night and the stuff they have to do, I don't remember where they were,
but, they said both the cops being interviewed and the doctors, that full moons for them were annoying because of all the extra crap they have to deal with, maybe is not completely related, but they did have a calendar with the moon showing when it was full just to know when the crazy nights were going to be,
if they had a calendar to prepare, there is something to it
