Do you live with the damage or does a little piece of you die inside?

I noticed a little bit of damage to the rubber skin on my King Leonidas the other day - I didn't notice it out of the box, and can't think of when I might have done anything to it... but there it is now, a microscopic chunk missing from the inside thigh and it's HUGE.

My question is, do you have any figures with minor damage that will have you replacing your figure with a perfect, minty mint version as soon as you win the lottery? Some paint that rubbed off in the post? A stain on the figure that won't come off? A broken part that you managed to repair but you KNOW it's not factory fresh?

Maybe you don't need the lottery win and have already replaced a figure because of damage that to others is invisible but you can't live with?

Or, are you a practical sort who just says, 'meh, it's all part of the wear and tear of having collectibles that get handled from time to time'.

I think I am the former but would like to be the latter...

Interesting idea for a thread. I have several pieces in my collection, that have tiny tiny defects. Some more severe than others, some I caused by my own mistake, others just arrived on my doorstep that way. It used to really bother me. Even little flaws or breaks that I had fixed or concealed, I would get quite upset knowing the issues were still there.
I had to get myself to stop obsessing and examining my collectibles under direct light. Returning and exchanging everything in search of the perfect piece can get very expensive and time consuming.
Unless the damage is that bad, I can live with it.

I have a figure who's sculpt has a tiiiny scratch in the paint under the right eye. Nobody would notice it, but it ate away at me for about a week. I actually lost some sleep over it...

The thumb of the endo arm on my T-800 snapped off the moment I opened the box. Really pissed me off but not enough to return it, luckily its a piece that can be bought right now for about $10

I've always been pretty lax about theses things. Some of my figures have taken perfect 10 nose dives off my bookcase but now that I finally got a detolf I may be a bit more pissed about defects???

It bugs me and I'm a pretty OCD person to begin with, but I've learned to not sweat the small stuff in the last few years. These are just collectibles, feels good to say that actually :lol

in reality, a large percentage of pieces will have small defects regardless if you look real hard for them or not. You will get some pieces that look freakin perfect, but i have come to live with some of the smaller issues on my statues as long as its not the result from bad QC.

I have a few figures with some defects including missing and broken pieces, it only bothers me for a while, then I learn to let it go cause 1. There's no replacements and 2. It's not visible while on display. But if the problem is really big, then it will bother me until I either fix or replace it.

Off and on. Sometimes I notice things that sorta pi$$ me off, and I constantly worry about exposure to my g/fs cigarrette smoke when shes around.

I certainly know the feeling of being bothered by something not being perfect and box fresh. My Iron Man mark III has that discolouration of the waist which I just can't help but wonder if it would be a problem if I had left it MIB. But if I was to do that, why the hell did I buy it in the first place? I dunno, everything gathers dust and has some kind of light shining on it, everything gets handled, the loss of box-fresh is just inevitable.

Had that same problem bro. I would make her smoke outside and wait a few minutes before coming back inside. Even with my figures in a glass case, it worried me.

Then the _____ left me, and now my toys are safe and sound. :yess:

Man, this is a great topic. I am glad I am not the only one with this issue. I feel much better knowing that I am not the only one that is losing sleep and losing concentration as work because my DX Bats left bicep is leaking.

Oh haha I gave up on my sweaty batman. I have the DCD plastic abs version, and he's still an oily mess. I'm just glad I kept the V1. With a head swap and some adjusting, the V1 looks just fine.

It'll eat away at me.

I had an Aldo with a tiny dot of hair paint on the skin next to the hairline... I got it exchanged!

My Godfather's base had a loose plate, so I tried to glue it... ____ed up with the glue and I bought a new base for $25.

Hair paint on the ears also bug the hell out of me... but luckily, it isn't happening to the newer HT figures, or at least, I haven't experienced it these days.

Now I'm worrying if my MJ Bad! will arrive with paint slop on the belts... there's so many... there's bound to be a slop somewhere right??

want to see defects? i suggest looking in the mirror. we are far from mint.

I always fix the defect by myself, like the venom comiquette, real bad eye detail. Fixed it up with some black paint and now it looks ace...
