Does anyone else wish Wolvie and cyclops had x bases?

I know alot of people don't like the x bases but I do and kinda think its neat when they match like Psylocke, Gambit Rogue and Colossus. They will probably make a brown wolverine but probably not cyclops since he doesn't seem to be doing well selling wise. Cyclops was my favorite as a kid. Was Wolvie brown suited or yellow suited under Jim Lee's reign over x-comics? Right now I've got Gambit and Rogue coming. Both exclusives. I'd love the EX of psylocke for the longer hair. Wolvie and cyclops exclusives don't really bother me compared to regular. Want to buy them too. Colossus EX is probably the one that I definately don't need the exclusive. He looks like he's going to take a dump to me with the exclusive head but i still want the regular. I don't collect to sell.,

What are your thoughts?

Yes! :rock:rock:rock

The Cyke and Wolvie bases are better than the X-bases imo. Having a whole bunch of X-men on X bases just looks silly to me. These are high end collectibles not chess board pieces.

:rotfl I thought it was a good idea to make them all the same but no thanks. There's no way to choose a big x base over the more detail fancy stone bases.

we like the X-bases... it gives a sense of uniform-ism (is that a word? :p)
of course, the same could have been accomplished if they all had rocky bases...

I think Sideshow decided to experiment with the x-men line and it backfired. Think about it: we got different bases, different scales, the worst ex sculptor ever with Cyke, and tons of Qc issues. Instead of consistency, everything got messed up. I prefer the natural looking bases like Wolverine's or cyclops.

Some kid of one of the Sideshow's design team just wants to make a big X-men vs Avengers chess set.

The x bases don't bother me since the point is they are not just a team, but a very specific in time roster. The problem with environment bases is they dont create a uniformity. But when you look at the bases on Batman and Joker, and then look at the Women of Marvel bases, it's possible to have bases that match in theme without being the same base or specific environments.

Cyclops is the only odd one out. Wolverine was designed to match Sabretooth, and the yellow costume is his 70s costume. Storm is in her 70s costume. They give room for other 70s X-Mem to be on environment bases. A potential brown Wolverine will most likely be on the X. Cyclops is the only 90s version not on an x.

Both.

Like most X-Men during Lee's tenure he wore a bunch of outfits. Lee started as the artist on Uncanny X-Men during a time when the X-Men were all over the place and not the familiar 90s roster. He then moved to X-Men #1, the begining of the popular 90s Blue and Gold teams, and Wolverine was in his brown costume. I think by issue #4 he was back in the older yellow costume, right before Lee left. Lee drew both costumes but created neither.

Ironically, the version of X-Men Lee is most known for is the version he spent the least amount of time on.

I don't like the X bases cos they are bigger than a normal base since they are round and they don't add to the character the way some of the other bases do. Also 20 x-men characters = 20 x theme bases which is repetitive.

:exactly:... like the A bases the X ones are cheap looking IMO.

I see both base types (Avengers "A", X-men "X" and detailed bases like Captain America's PF base) every day.

IMO the more detailed the base, the better. It's just more interesting to look at.

Might feel different if the statues were all lined up next to each other, but lined up vertically (like in a Besta) I don't miss consistent bases.

Uncanny X-Men #139 (1980) was the first appearance of the redish/brown outfit. This one lasted until the early 90's.
For a lot of us at the time this was the height or Wolverines popularity. The Frank Miller limited series really cemented this look for me.

I also like the X Base I think it gives them a clean look. Especially since I only have Rogue and Psylocke with Colossus on the way.

I would love to see SS offer a unique display stand that would house the entire line up. That would be awesome.

I'm glad the Wolverine base is different than the X. The Wolvie and Sabretooth figures go together, so it makes sense for them to change the base. Also, the Cyclops has the Magneto helmet on the back of it which is pretty awesome :) Those extra features just wouldn't look right on an X !

what really sucks is they are mostly flat footed museum poses,so customizers like myself cant do too much without a full on overhaul. i have most of the x-men, alot are fails in my eyes but im a fan, i still stand behind the best pf ever is the gambit, sucks his gf looks like she needs one of those white lampshades you would put on a dog around her neck. you know what ,i might actually make that!
