So, what's everyone's take on this? Personally, I bought a lot of Hot Toys figures this year (way more than usual), and I found myself not being able to afford all of the games that I really wanted, and I had to cancel practically all of my pre-ordered games. But, thank God that there were some great Black Friday deals on Amazon and Best Buy, and I was finally able to pick up Uncharted 3 and a few others.

I guess that if there are great figures being released, I'll always put gaming on the back-burner, in order to allocate the appropriate funds for my purchases on Sideshow.

So, how about you? Do you sacrifice gaming for "collecting", or vice versa? Or are you able to afford both hobbies at the expense of neither?

Collecting over gaming.

I can't bring myself to pay full price for a game that will be cheaper in just a few months, as opposed to a collectible which will more than likely rise... making it more costly for me in the long run. I'll pick up games after a few months they've been out.

...The only game I've played in the last year and a half is AvP2..because I can't afford any others due to collecting. :lol

I wait for PS3 games to hit $19.99 and I wear them the ____ out by playing 1 game for about 4 months. So its pretty easy to afford them all.

It's called budgeting. that, and I almost NEVER buy games at release. not when they are guarantee to drop in price in a month or two. :lol

I only buy the main titles like halo and zelda the rest usually get rented via gamefly skyrim is definatly a keeper though.

I only buy a few games that I really love at release and I wait for the others that I kind of want to go down in price, so it's usually not an issue.

I don't playing much... Valve's games mostly.
But I'm also never buy games if I didn't played them.

So my hobby doesn't affect my "game life" because no good games appears in the recent years.

And that's all you need dude! Da best A&P related game to date :yess:

I can afford both but obviously I'm not going all out on collecting as there is technically no end to the amount of collectibles I'm interested in...have to force myself not to buy everything.

Nope. Still do both, but I'm just doing less of them. Other more expensive hobbies have come up recently so these are going towards the bottom of priorities.

I rent through Blockbuster online so 90% of the time I just wait and I always have a new game. Arkham city I bought new and will probably trade it for Skyrim once I get my achievements.

Agreed, by far the best. Although I have never played the first one..

I just love the story and atmosphere that AvP2 brings. AvP 2010 was alright, but not anything special..not anything memorable, like AvP2.

Colonial Marines is looking pretty freaken awesome though..

Unless you're one of the few people with unlimited funds ... then the answer is necessarily "yes". Choosing one thing gives you less money for other choices. I'm doing well enough that I don't have to pass on much due to cost, though. I limit myself to two or three high-end collectibles a year.

Still, except for rare exceptions, I'll pick collectibles over games. Video games go down in price over time, so I can get most games for under $20 eventually. The Hot Toys aftermarket is ridiculous.

I can afford both hobbies without a problem, but I've been experiencing a serious lack of interest in games for the past few months. For some reason, collecting just seems more rewarding.

Gaming over collecting definitely.

I'm a gamer first and foremost. But I can somewhat afford both.
