So I ordered a Batman Returns head and boots from Custom-Heroes on the bay and get my invoice to find that the cheeky bleeder has charged me $20.00 for a head and some boots to be shipped to the UK from the US.

That's bloody expensive given the weight of the item. I'm betting $5.00 max.

I'm going to keep the envelope and file a complaint with ebay when it arrives.

What a cheeky get!

I don't know if it's that bad. International shipping sucks. Unless it's a letter, it's probably going to be at least $12-15.

I ship tons of loose pieces overseas. The cost on 1/6 boots and a 1/6 head is less than 2.00 airmail in a bubble wrap envelope. I would definitely B-itch about it to the seller.

When I complain about shipping, I am reminded that the fee is for shipping and handling. So they must have spent a lot on the envelope and tape, and used up a lot of their personal time standing in line at the post office.

Frustrating...

I wish more people understood the true value of handling packages. My time is valuable people.:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

Well, not that I'm condoning high shipping/handling prices, but seriously, to ship an overseas package at my local post office, during my lunch hour at work, can easily take 30 to 45 minutes! Now, I'm not gonna charge somebody for that time, but I can easily see others doing it. It is a real pain in the rear to be honest...

I hate filling out all the customs forms myself. Worst part is most people I sell to end up being overseas.

I agree Lonnie, not only that but if you have to track down a box, and such - it actually can add up.

There is a significant difference between that though and being cheeky!

i think that's how sellers can "afford" to sell the item for a cheaper price then they would normally sell it for, they make it up in the shipping. Look at the PS3s and Wiis, I've seen some shipping for like $85, which is ridicilous.

I also hate the "handling" that some (or should I say most) sellers charge on Ebay.

I have bought about 15 pieces in the last two weeks on Ebay, and not a single one charged the actual shipping cost, but always between $10 and $18 more for international shipping...

I also sell a lot of stuff online, but I always only charge the actual shipping cost. If you don't like the "work", "gas & time to drive to the post office" and "materials" (and whatever reasons they have explaining the "handling cost"), then don't sell it, because that's what it also takes to "sell" an item!

I suggest you wait for your shipment to arrive and see how much he actually paid, then ask him in a polite way, something like "it looks like the weight you entered in the shipping calculator was too high" or something along these lines and ask him if he could give you a partial refund on the shipping cost.

I don't think you will get very far with a complaint to Ebay, since they will tell you that you agreed to his conditions when you placed your bid.

If shipping costs are not clearly stated in the auction, always ask and if you don't get an answer, don't bid.

I emailed a seller one time asking if his shipping cost was accurate on an item I was interested in. He basically said that eBay allows shipping and handling charges, so he wasn't going to back off on the shipping charges. Needless to say, I didn't buy it.
