I am on AT&T DSL and I'm having connection problems. I can't stay connected for long. Turns out that it's probably my modem. Anyway, AT&T wants $75 for a new one, which is okay, but I've been reading reviews and the modem (Motorola 2210) is a piece of crap and doesn't last long for many people. It has lasted 2 years for me. AT&T only covers them for one year.

Anyway, I can get it alittle cheaper through Best Buy, but I would rather get a different one, a better one, even if it's more expensive. Any ideas?

You lost us at AT&T DSL. :lol

I'm on a different provider now that I'm in Texas, but I have my AT&T DSL modem sitting in my closet. It's yours if you want to pay shipping on it.

I figured as such, that why the :lol I stopped at Best Buy and bought another one. AT&T would've charged me to have a tech come out and check it and then I still would've had to have bought one. They only replace them free under a year. I asked the guy at Best Buy if they replace them if they go out and they said they did for 2 years for $9. Since I already had a coupon for $20 off, I figured I get that since they don't last long.

It's fine now. I really don't care for DSL, but I don't have a choice right now. :(

I'm glad it worked out for you. :duff

Thanks! I'm good to for at least two years. What sucks is you HAVE to take that modem and it's rated terrible on sites. Alittle over one star out of five is pretty crappy. If I went wireless I could get a better one, but, I really don't have a need for that at this time.

Thanks for the modem offer! :)

I'm not too happy with the wifi modem I currently have either. I swear these providers give you the cheapest free modems available.

What you could try is using a different PHONE WIRE and different NETWORK CABLE. Most of the time, the most common problem can be the wires. In addition to that, there should be a reset button on the modem. :huh If that doesn't work, it might be time to get a new one.

Odd though, that AT&T won't give you another modem of the same model, seeing as though their modem died.

Did all of that! I'm kinda stupid, but not quite that bad. :lol ;)

I reset the modem 100s of times over the last 2 weeks. It just got worse and worse. I could be online from 2 hours to 5 minutes, then I'd have to do a reset and a reboot.

They will only replace them up to a year, after that $75 and if they have to send a tech to your house, you have to pay for that too!

Ween, maybe you should check for one of these...
