dumb-and-dumber-2-on-the-way-99798-470-75.jpg

The Three Stooges might have brought us nothing but stony faces so far, but that all changed at the recent press junket, at which the Farrelly brothers announced that production will soon begin on Dumb And Dumber 2.

"We're getting set to shoot Dumb And Dumber 2 in September," revealed Peter Farrelly. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

Carrey was thought to be in discussions to reprise his role as Lloyd Christmas last summer, but since then, the project had gone a little quiet. Now, production is expected to start by the end of the year, with both Carrey and Daniels on board.

Meanwhile, Farrelly is keen to distance himself from the 2003 prequel Dumb And Dumberer, stressing that this new film will be the first true return to the characters made famous by the 1994 original.

"We did not do Dumb And Dumberer,'" he says. "That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, 'We've got to do this thing again.' He had just watched Dumb And Dumber and he said, 'This is the perfect sequel. Let's do it.'"

Loved the first one, will see this in the theater.

Re: Dumb & Dumber 2

This movie was by far the funniest thing Carrey has done, cant wait to see the sequel!

As much as I hate to say, part of me really wants to see Three Stooges. It looks like the actors really captured the mannerisms of the originals, but too much fart humor from what I've seen in the trailers. The "her face rings a bell" line is classic Stooges though, so maybe when it hits DVD.

Re: Dumb & Dumber 2

Easily my favourite Carrey film and probably my favourite comedy ever!

So i will definitely give it a watch.

The First was a classic! I will definitely be seeing this one!

I loved the first one too. As "dumb"as it is, it's one of those cozy guilty pleasures that I have watched many many times now.
There is just something endearing about it, and I guess I was at a good younger age when this first came out, and Carrey was in top prime silly form back then.

I'll be up for it and hope they capture the characters from the first one, and also have the lovable goofy charm as well.

Re: Dumb & Dumber 2

I haven't seen the first one in some years actually. I'll be interested to see this.

I haven't seen it period. Plus I don't think I want to after seeing the above picture. I don't think I could tolerate watching a brain dead film, far less a sequel.

Re: Dumb & Dumber 2

Just came across the old news that Jim Carrey has backed out. This project is dead. Sad day. Behind TDKR, it really was the one I was most excited for.

Heard that too, soo sad

The story I heard was that the studio was playing around too much and not giving the a solid go ahead... I wish that Jim carrey would buy the rights to it himself and make it, not like he doesn't have the money

Re: Dumb & Dumber 2

After watching The Newsroom I imagine Daniels has a shot at an emmy this year for his incredible performance, can't imagine him going back to the guy with diarrhea.

Also been a while since Jims done physical comedy, at least something that would be this crazy. Honestly I feel this is for the best.

Re: Dumb & Dumber 2

I do. The first one was great, one of my favorite, rewatchable films. I'd love to see a story/film that drops in on Harry and Loyd 20 years after the first.
