It's D&DD as Atari has today announced a new entry in the popular fantasy franchise with Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale. The RPG, which is heading to the Xbox Live Arcade, will centre upon the desperate struggle to defeat evil overlord Rezlus and his Zhentarim, as they attempt to invade and conquer the Dalelands.

A multiplayer action-RPG experience, Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale will feature treacherous new characters in a winding narrative that will see you striving to restore order to Nentir Vale by unlocking the secrets buried deep within the Mines of Tethyamar and vanquishing the evil that resides within the Tower of the Void, before engaging in the final showdown with Rezlus himself. Sounds easy.

Solo and co-operative gameplay for up to four players is also supported in Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale, which Atari is hoping will expand the franchise's appeal to a growing audience with intuitive combat and a variety of weapons, spells and other feats available to players for defeating a range enemies in rich environments designed for exploration.

"The Dungeons & Dragons franchise remains a priority for Atari as we continue to build upon the ever-evolving narrative with Dungeons & Dragons Daggerdale" said Jim Wilson, President and CEO of Atari. "As the first D&D cross-platform digital download title we look forward to expanding the franchise to a growing gaming audience."
