Has anyone used a dye to darken or change the color of clothes for your customs. Im trying to dye a green backpack black anyone think this will work?

Depends on the material, but 99% of the time the stitching wont dye at all because its synthetic. If the pack is a nylon type material acrylic paint will do just fine.

Here is a pic of the pack. Anyidea as to what brand of dye to use?

Maybe RIT dye. If not just use some acrylic black paint watered down a little and just paint the fabric. Or a combo of both?

Well i have done this for a punisher vest that was orange. I paint it black using fabric paint.
If you used dye there are some amterial that will stay green. THe straps for example won't dye. I'm sure I have tried that.
But fabric paint will work excellent!

Rite dye is used to dye cloth and have seen ppl use it on plastics

If the material is light in shade,it should work

one thing to keep in mind about dying is that it can be hard on the material. I had to dye a 1/6 suit twice to get the right color and I noticed after the 2nd time some of the seams stitching started to come apart.

I'd like to second that opinion on the harsh side effects of dyeing. When using RIT dye the combination of the hot water and salt really takes its toll. I try to do all of my dying in one go to try and minimize exposure. I have the best success in dying a lighter material another darker color. Also I only use dye when I have multiples of a item just in case, well in case things go horribly wrong.

I think the worst experience I had dyeing items was when I tried to dye the BBI Chuck Morris flightsuit. I tried to use RIT color remover to lighten them up but it made them turn an pale yellowish-orange color in the dye bath. When I removed them and rinsed them out they immediately changed back to their original green color. In the end I had to bleach them out and then dye them to the appropriate color using Black RIT dye because it was the only color that would take.

Ive dyed a few green things black just by soaking it in watered down black acrylic paint, and drying it over and repeating it til i got bored, and wished id brought a proper dye :lol I got there in the end though, but it wasn't rich black by the time i finished.
