Hi guys, hopefully you can help me out.

I am new to selling on ebay and not sure what to do. I specified with Paypal and on my listing that I only ship within the US. But a person from the UK with one feedback used BIN anyway. So Paypal prevented the transaction because I specified US customers only, but the listing is marked at sold. I don't see an option to cancel the order even though the buyer didn't pay. What do I do?

That sucks. You'll probably have to file a non-paying bidder claim, wait 7 days, and then Ebay refunds your listing fees.

So let me get this straight. Even though you specified US domestic sales only, an international bidder was still allowed to buy it now and close the auction. That doesn't make sense at all. Both you and the international buyer will have to amicably agree that you decided not to complete the auction.

EDIT: if you only specified in the listing description, but didn't actually set the rules up while listing to only ship within US, then you need to do that next time.

PM me what you are selling. Maybe I buy.

I know I specified it in Paypal, but maybe I am missing an option in ebay that will block this?

you don't list your item in paypal, you list in Ebay. There is a field towards bottom of first page of listing (there are 2 pages to complete when listing) that you say you will ship to US and if you make sure not to select "will ship worldwide" or any of the countries, it shoul be domestic only. Then I think within the buyer requirements you can automatically prevent bidders "in countries which I do not ship" or something like that going off my memory.

Damn, I messed up. I filled out the buyer requirements on a previous listing, but I was naive enough to think it would save the preferences for all my listings. I hope he doesn't give me a negative feedback.

Ok, another question. I won an auction last Monday (June 9th). Should I expect an e-mail from the seller that it shipped?

Most don't tell you when it's shipped, but I believe ebay suggests payment within 10 days of winning, so I would expect to have the item within 10 day of paying for it.

It doesn't hurt to sent the seller a message asking if it has been sent.

You can say in the listing that the item ships in the US only, but if you don't actually set up the auction to be US only, the system will still let them bid or BIN. I have had to deal with international buyers who are unhappy with the final shipping charges that result after they use Buy It Now without first getting a shipping quote from me.

I don't think anyone actually reads the auction descriptions. Half the time people ask me questions that are answered in the item description or with international bidders, they bid and don't ask shipping costs even though it is clearly stated in the description to do so.

Thanks guys. I guess I'm just not used to slow shipping times from the average ebayer (especially those with ratings in the hundreds or thousands). When I sell something (rating 85), I try to get it shipped the same day I receive payment and I always send it Priority Mail, so the buyer will receive it in 2-3 days.

I won and paid for a Bespin Luke on Sunday June 8th, and the seller didn't ship the item until Thursday June 12. He sent it Fedex ground, so I will not receive it until Friday, June 20th. Not a big deal, but as a seller, I don't like to keep my buyers waiting.

The item I won and paid for on Monday, June 9th, was Sideshow Palpatine.

There is a place in your Seller preferences that give a checkbox to prevent buyers from regions you do not ship to.

If you only state it in the auction, ebay will not prevent the buyer from bidding or BIN.

Here's how to do it:

Go to My Ebay
Go to Site Preferences
Click "Show" on Buyer Requirements
Click Edit

I check the box for the following options:

Block buyers who don't have a PayPal account.
Block bidders and buyers who have received 2 Unpaid Strikes in last 12 months
Block buyers who are registered in countries to which I don't ship (this is most important)
Block buyers who have 4 Policy violation report(s) within 6 month(s)
Block buyers who have a feedback score of -1 or lower.

Then check the "Apply above settings to current and future listings." box

Click Submit

I had checkmarked 'Block buyers who don't have a PayPal account.' and then received this 'Question' from a buyer. So I guess it is not good to checkmark this?

Dear justlnluck,

What the hell?

I have more than 130 positive feedbacks (100%), and you won't accept my bid? Because my Paypal account is not 'linked' ?

Forget it. Any buyer with half a brain would not take that risk, given the numerous sordid and unsavory viruses and other security risks one contracts on the web, especially browsing e-bay. I use a separate, secure computer for all financial transactions, especially Paypal.

I would recommend you drop that ridiculous constraint, if you want to get top dollar.

Good Luck, but I'll pass on this one.

Mike

I guess I have less than half a brain then.

I keep getting questions for overseas buyers now, asking how much it would cost to ship to places such as the UK. Is there a way I can predict how much it would cost to ship with USPS? I have a USPS scale I use at home to measure the weight, but I am used to sending things within the US.

what a douche....he acts like he's the only bidder on ebay and you've insulted him so you've lost your chance to sell something. he's probably a non-payer.

Go to usps.com. You can get rates based on weight and it will tell you what the size limits are.

Have any of you guys purchased items from bizzarosworld2006? Here is the ebay ID 360058238541. He is not responding to my messages. He has a strong feedback score, so I assume he is trustworthy. I just wish I would get an update on the item I purchased.
