Directed, co-written, and produced by Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel franchise), THE GREEN INFERNO follows a group of student activists who travel from New York City to the Amazon to save a tribe from extinction. In an unfortunate twist of fate, when the group arrives, they are taken hostage by the very cannibals they sought to protect.

Personally, I liked Hostel (the sequels, no). This looks a bit samey and I dunno, maybe a bit exploitative (of the tribes people) at the same time. On one hand, it's a neat premise that do-gooders end-up being the victims of their good intentions but at the same time... impossibly good looking students simpering for mercy is a bit of a cliché with Roth. If it gets good reviews (for a horror movie) I might VOD it.

I really loved Cabin in the Woods and Hostel so I will definitely see this.

I'm really looking forward to this, as I've become a bit bored of the endless zombie or vampire films that we've had over the recent years. A return to the cannibal genre of the 70-80s is most welcome!

I just hope it's as good as the preview reviews sounded...

I don' think I'd class this as a remake but just a film that sits in the same genre as Cannibal Holocaust, as with other cannibal horror films (i.e. Cannibal Ferox, Last Cannibal World, Eaten Alive!). The subject matter might be similar but the same could be said for most zombie, vampire, ghost, slasher horror films, but they aren't all remakes of each other.

Also, this one isn't a "lost footage" move, which would have made it easier to call it a remake.

don't mind Roth. Bring on the gore porn.
But you guys are right. It probably won't have the in depth storyline, like, say, the original classic TCM had .... :cut ....

For some reason, this trailer stuck with me enough that I had a dream about watching this movie. Except, in the dream, it starred Louis CK, and he and his much younger girlfriend were the only survivors who escaped. Then, it got even weirder, because they managed to escape to New York, where the cannibals followed them. Louis CK, subsequently, stole a rental car and basically started running down the villagers in the streets of Manhattan with a Prius.:lol
