Not you in particular. But I guarantee your comments will be used as a jumping point by you or someone else within just a few pages, who always nitpicks the hell out of sideshow while making excuses for figures that cost twice as much... and it breeds like guppies and really, that's what's freaking weak. This is exactly what happened in the Stormtrooper thread and just about every other Sideshow Star Wars thread here.

I think guys should make comments without getting hammered for liking or disliking the figures be it SSC or HT or Medi.
Some of this is SSC own fault. They came on the scene talking about how they created "museum quality" figures made to be played with. That was a god send to SW fans who had endured years of lackluster product by Hasblow. For most of their offerings, they did deliver. But they have been plagued by ongoing shortcomings similar to what Krayt D is talking about...paint apps that they have proven that they can do better than, large heads which they have said they figured out and solved and very slow improvements on the base buck and slow movement on the new pro. I think the concept of it just being SW fans who mostly cripe is a little skewed just to say the least. It is mostly SW fans who cripe because thats the most produced 1/6th scale product by SSC...so pound for pound there is more to critique.
As far as the stormies go (and I only bring this up in this thread cause it was mentioned), again SSC kinda set themselves up for this one. They held off delivering their armored figures "perfecting" their method of creating the armor for these figs for, what the fans would consider, 3 long years. In that time they redeveloped the buck body into the pro. Fans were ecstatic to finally see the reveal of clone obi and the announcment of the stormie. After all these years, it is only natural for fans to expect the very best that SSC has to offer. And in that I mean, some fans expected this stormie to be hands down better than anything produced before it straight out the box! And why not, they had the advantage of studying and if neccessary, reverse engineering all other incanations of the character to produce all the best features that the previous figs had to offer. Effectively creating the ultimate representation of the stormies. While I believe they made a great figure, imho, they didn't quite meet full expectation.
For what its worth, i think they did a good job and I'm sure they did a good job with AOTC Obi...I'll let you know this Wednesday
But please lets stop bashing each other for having an opinion...why go back and forth because one guy says the figure didn't meet their expectation and the other guy says it did? Seems kinda useless cause neither person is going to give up their p.o.v.

It's not tiny BS.
A lot of folks around here held off on Clone Obi-Wan in the anticipation of an Attack of the Clones rendition.
Clone Obi-Wan came out first, using the same head, with a paint job that in some ways set a bar for the AOTC figure, particularly a full and well painted beard.
For the beard to not look a certain way would be like changing the shapes of Darth Maul's tattoos, it's a defining trait of AOTC Obi-Wan to have a certain beard.
Commenting about the lack of fullness or whatever on the AOTC figure's beard isn't unreasonable in this case because the same head was painted already in the proper way, as far as the beard, and this new portrait seems to not be up to that level, so surely some folks will be dissappointed because it's not as though it couldn't or hadn't been achieved, it was achieved on one head so swallowing that it couldn't be on another will be hard.
There's nitpicking and then there's looking for consistency. The beard issue is a consistency issue. Logically, there's no reason the AOTC portrait couldn't have been painted identically to the Clone Obi-Wan figure, it's the same portrait, so anyone baffled and let down by this is justified in their feeling.
I sold my Clonobi in anticipation for this guy. The second I saw those pics coming in from Asia of the terrible (IMO) paint job I knew I would have to get the Clonobi head from Toy Anxiety and locate a new TT body for him.
Which is sad because I actually planned on keeping him on the Buck, since this is likely the final male SW release on the Buck.

Because honestly it only turns into hating on a figure. Yes, there is some discussion (actual discussion) but most of it turns into the pulling apart of a figure for every little detail.
I don't blame him. Seems like the Medicommies are passing around a fifth of Haterade here.
Its not the medicom folks. Posting pictures of a figure that taking a beatin only leads to the figure taking more of a beating. I'd rather just post pictures in my collection thread where things are much more positive about figures, because they're on someones collection.
This figures nothing close to terrible not even the paint job. I've yet to see a good photo of it. I get mine on the second and look forward to it and maybe even taking some pics. Which I haven't of Belloq, Stormie, my customized Aragorn.

Yeah, I thought it was a good and very fitting way to end the era of the Buck. Granted the paint aps aren't perfect, but I don't expect Da Vinci to be painting an $80 collectible.
The sculpt is awesome and with a little futzing the outfit is great. He's a strong addition to the collection and again, a fitting and worthy sendoff to the Buck.
I like the eye paint on Ep2 Obi better than Clonobi. But the way the beard is painted really cheapens Trev's sculpt for me. Thats why I am going with Clonobi.
That understandable. For me it looks fine but I'm also not going to spend money on getting this figure for the outfit, buying a new body, and getting the other sculpt. Thats too much money for me to be spending on making a figure that's already put together.

Yeah, while Clonobi and Indy definitely have more character correct iris paint, the overall effect on Clonobi leans more towards a stepping stone between Frodo and Sam to Indy. Indy's more like traditional SSC eyes, with the Hobbits being way off and Clonobi a step in between.
Thankfully, they still look like Ewan eyes and aren't bad, making the Clonobi head useful for an Ep2 figure, but definitely the AOTC head has the better eyes.

No idea, I'm donating mine to Les so he can have Trev's awesome sculpt.
I'd say maybe sell the head and keep the body for possible future needs, never hurts having spare bodies.
I'm not sure yet. Any ideas?
Thats a really cool thing to do. Maybe I'll donate mine to someone in exchange for free services.
