I would rather see a good sequel with Kurt. I did not like Escape from LA because it was cheesy. They should make one with the same feel as the original. From seeing some of Kurt's clips from Deathproof, he can still be a creditable Snake.

Both Carpenter and Russell have been greenlit by paramount for `Escape from Earth` part of a 3 movie deal as I recall for production in 2008!

definitely!! he can still play a great badass. looks like he'll be pretty good in Grindhouse.

I read that Kurt payed homeage to Snake in Death Proof via the scar over his face where Snake wears his Eye Patch, I really liked that.

I also agree that it's still not too late for Kurt to bring his portrayal of Snake back for a third film.

Oh come on. The movies are great. But they are both cheesy. LOL!

Hehee thats part of the whole appeal.

I mean the delivery of lines such as "Call Me Snake ..the Name's Plissken" says that in itself :)

Cabbie watching a drag show musical ..haha. Romero with his mannerisms. Chandeliers on the Dukes Caddy. I can go on and on.

I have to admit though, EFLA went a bit far.

I remember watching EFLA at the cinema and there was a whole crowd in the audience all cheering and calling out stuff like yeah! snake! woohoo! c'mon snake! whenever he did or said something cool.

..up until the Surf Boarding and Trannie from the Skies scenes, dead silence I tell ya.

NY is classic. LA not so much. The only part about LA that I really liked was Bruce Campbell's character.

And are they still thinking of doing a remake? It's been awhile since I've heard anything. Actually about a year looking at the date this thread was started.

Hey Batty,

The latest that I've read is that Butler quit the project citing creative differences, old news ..though there's still a release date of 2009.

I have a feeling that the announcement of Butler having left the production may be a smoke screen, due to negative fan feedback. Kurt's been quoted as saying Get +++++ed, I'm Snake! somewhere along the lines, maybe another diversion to keep it all quiet(?).

J. Mostow is set to write with an option to Direct, replacing Brett Ratner.

While googling up butler as plissken images I came across the pic below, not sure if its a photoshop job or not though.
