I can see what you mean aesthetically for sure. I guess I just liked those additions as visual development, pushing the characters closer to the Federation founding the show itself denied us. (I actually wanted Archer/Shran/T'Pol as a set because as members of their respective species they were instrumental to the creation of the Federation)
