I think I can attribute this character for destroying my interest in Star Trek. So I should be grateful for that at least. :lol
I hope that’s not the only reason, Trek as a franchise has a lot of redeeming qualities that shouldn’t be overshadowed based on one individual. ;)

It was the one that precipitated my growing lack of interest, series by series until only the TOS and TOS movies remained. Now I don't even have much interest in those either.

I'll keep my TOS QMx figures, though I have conflicted feelings looking at them.

QMx Picard will probably be broken down for parts. Though there isn't anything useful on him apart from body and head. At the moment he's on a high shelf, out of sight, out of mind.

Luckily I was never impressed or interested enough by any of the EXO-6 figures produced so far. Being told repeatedly that figures would be in such short supply that demand wouldn't be met, and collectors would miss out, was a turn off.

I used to look forward to getting Uhura and Chekov (presumably to be released at the end of the Five Year Mission), or the TWOK crew, but now I don't really want anything to do with the company.

I can see where Nanjin has left a sour taste for various reasons. I feel somewhat conflicted too but ultimately I’m a Star Trek fan and am still going to collect EXO-6.

I just have to remember that in spite of my feelings towards Nanjin and him being the biggest creative force behind the company EXO-6 isn’t solely him and there are others involved I can support.

Nanjin has the same issues a lot of creative types have. I see a lot of similarities between him and Gene Roddenberry, actually. Remember, for instance, when Roddenberry was pissed about the script for Wrath Of Khan, and went around conventions telling fans they were going to kill off Spock?

He was a great creative genius, but also a pain in the ***. I see s lot of the same issues with Nanjin.

I liked the version of Nanjin that could just geek out over matching Pantone colors to swatches of screen used fabric. Made me feel confident about the accuracy of the uniforms.

All the other versions of Nanjin, the drama mama, savior complex, hyperbolic used car salesmen marketer, I could do without. This weird thing he has going on with fixating over the slightest comment that isn’t effusive with praise is just unhealthy.

I would even agree that a lot of the feedback he got here wasn’t that great. It wasn’t particularly offensive - no one really truly tore into him here - but I am not convinced a lot of our comments were all that helpful. It is a difficult skill to separate the wheat from the chaff in terms of customer product feedback, and Nanjin is clearly nowhere near the appropriate mindset to do any of that.

There is definitely an issue with customers having views that are at odds and out of touch with design and production spaces. However, using that fact to ignore any and all criticism and to berate your customer base is not a mature way to deal with a problem which is faced by all product designers and manufacturers.

The proper way is to employ something along the lines of “thank you for your feedback, we’ll consider it.” After which, you don’t actually need to consider anything unless it is a thematic issue you see being criticized in a significant aggregate of the customer base. Just let the comments slide off like water, instead of acting like each and every individual comment is a dagger in the back. You cannot control the fact that other people will have opinions about your work, some with informed opinions and many with uninformed opinions. But you can control whether you let it get under your skin and you have to go throw a tantrum about it on a different social media platform.

Go get some anger management lessons if some rando on the internet with an uninformed opinion makes you so upset. You cannot ‘fix‘ or control that part of society. But you can lower your own blood pressure, avoid an aneurism, and increase personal satisfaction by taking a deep breath and just letting it go.

Get over it for God's sake man. No wonder he left here.
I don’t have a dog in the love or hate Nanjin fight, but he actually has a point here…I mean, if you read a book and don’t like the way it ends should the author have to take your feedback on completely changing the ending to his or her story…don’t like the way someone makes Star Trek figures…maybe don’t buy them or make your own…just saying.

This is gonna paint me as a Nanjin sock account, spy, apologist or whatever, but...

This forum needs to get over it's break up with Nanjin, lol. Y'all acting like crazy exes stalking his facebook page and looking for beef. Just let it go.

Hopefully this warp speed Exo-6 materializes soon. Would rather see discussion on the figures versus the man running the company.

Stalking his Facebook page is what gets updates on figures here. Choose your words a little better next time.

Are you not a board member here? Nice show of community.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with checking Nanjin's FB page for updates, but watching this place completely melt down every time he posts something that could vaguely be interpreted as a criticism of this group is getting a bit tiresome. Lol

Yes but do we need constant updates of all the drama he tries to stir up? That seems like it's playing into what some are accusing him of wanting anyways.

Maybe leave the drama out and just post the pictures and figure updates.

I'm just tired of the drama.

Nanjin's doing something I never thought I'd see... a fairly complete line of Trek. For that I'm very grateful.

I can't wait for the next preorder/release so that we can basically all stop talking about who said what to whom on Facebook.

Not every comment can or should be responded to, regardless of how he feels about the opinion. He's feeding the drama monster and deepening the divide between the love em and hate em crowds by directly responding and getting into it at all. The end result is people feeling like Asta.

You can't have the kind of feedback he's looking for from the customer base - we are never going to know how to run a company like Exo and we're never going to know the details of the constraints he's under.

So really he needs to take his own advice and just ignore us all. His posts should excite the customer base - figure teases, cool things that show exo's attention to detail, anecdotes about what he's learned along the way doing this, etc.

Not stuff that will divide them into camps.

Wasn’t Nanjin also a part of the “community?”

Yeah but he clearly couldn't take any criticism so he prefers to take shots at the board from afar.
No…I’m just pointing out that in fairness one would think that the same amount of grace that you are asking for should have also been given to him, if that’s what anyone thinks should be a standard for discourse on the forum.
I don’t know…not sure why anyone can’t understand him being occasionally peeved…I don’t know what everyone around here does for a living, but my job would be interesting to some people and if I decided to share some elements of it online and people who are consumers versus creators in my industry started picking it apart without knowing what goes into it I wouldn’t be thrilled about it…would anyone else be?

Some very throught-provoking posts from everyone today.

I'm grateful to get updates from those that are kind enough to trawl Farcebook for us, and I'm perfectly happy seeing the slight differences in opinion regarding Mr. T's approach to customer interraction - I pity the fool that . . . (sorry - got confused there . . . )

So . . . thanks to you ALL (Nanjin included) . . . and keep up the good work :)

PS: Play nice ;)

.

I’m curious what Nanjin’s second account name on here was. Probably wouldn’t be too difficult to figure out based on how he talks/writes.
