TMP McCoy is a must-have for me. The big three and I'm done with TMP... except if they release an Ilia... or a Spock in his space suit... or a Refit captain's chair... But that is all I need... (no, I'm not going to continue with Steve Martin's famous speech...)

2:12 PM on June 7th, 1621. What Nanjin means when he uses that star date, one can only speculate. Some believe he may be talking about Star Trek Day, which is September 8.

Well, I disagree on Spock, but I certainly understand the sentiment. I think I'm the only one disappointed in TMP Kirk, at least from the photos. I temper that with the knowledge that I don't have one in hand to examine so maybe it is better in person?

Still doesn't mean I don't want one though. Someday ill bite and get it, but not now. I love his TMP uniform and thought the white colorscheme looked so much better than the standard one most of the others wore.

Love that shadowed pic of Kirk, Qui Gon! Great shot and really brings out the best in that sculpt.

Oh I know I'm in the minority on that take, and I'm cool with that. I know I'm not very observant or good with being able to convey what I think is wrong. And I do admit that those are hands down the best 2 pics I've seen of it

Looking at the first vs second pic I think the figure looks more like a very close stunt double of the actor. I don't really know why. The biggest thing to me I can articulate is I feel Shatner in the 2nd pic has a thinner face than the figure.
I don't care for the smiling Enterprise flyby look, since it mismatches the intensity Shatner had through most of the movie, but that's a side issue and an artistic choice.

Comparing 2nd and 3rd pictures, I think it does look much closer but almost 1/2 the face is in shadow on both of those.

To each their own. I don't want to rain on the parade, and I'll refrain from further comment on it.

Yeah that's been my biggest issue with these smiling Kirk sculpts we're getting for TMP and TWOK-- It just doesn't represent the movies all that well. Only some snapshot moment near the beginning.

Not advising anyone to drag their feet if they really want this figure, but the parallel with Seven of Nine is getting uncanny! I’m not saying Locutus will be up for immediate purchase for a month and a half, but I’m not saying it won’t either

I think generally I prefer serious sculpts but if you are picking that uniform, I suppose the most iconic image is him seeing the Enterprise.

I wish we'd got a few more TMP uniforms but everyone just hates on them too much, over and over and over, so I guess that's why he went for the non-uniformed options when the characters first returned to the ship.

As for the TMP uniforms, I don't hate them, but overall I like the maroons better. I wish we got the white short sleeve one, but I totally get why thats not viable. That's always been my favorite of TMP.

I think the TWOK uniforms look smarter and more naval but slight variations on the TMP uniforms like in Into Darknes, could have made the TMP ones look cool and more sci fi. I think I like them because I like the whole hard sci fi vibe of TMP and the Enterprise never looked better. I can't wait for the Enterprise Vault to bring it to life. Looks like TWOK McCoy might have his white medical smock though.

So...we already know he's using star dates differently than most conventional wisdom says, but if he's at least applying some conventional math to it, his stardate -300689 should be September 29th, although he might mean September 28th, as that was the premiere date for Star Trek: TNG in 1987. It's the closest event of any real significance that falls near the 29th of September, and I do seem to recall Nanjin being annoyed that the 30th and 35th anniversaries of TNG passed without enough fanfare from Paramount.
