FAVORITE Announcement 2008... so far

So what's everyone's favorite announcement so far -- new line, new 12", bust, diorama, whatever...

Probably the Prometheus body.

Sorry to go off topic, but did Sideshow change their prototype Indy pics? That actually looks like Ford now. Good stuff Sideshow, and of course well done Trev, I'm glad they fixed the paint for all the effort that you put into this. Back on topic, Indiana Jones in 1/6th is about the best, so far. It's a holy grail in itself after all this time without.

So far I'm stoked about the fact SST have woken from their long slumber over the Buck and given us what looks like a fantastic base figure, hows about letting your long time buyers and supporters get their hands on some cheap base bodies so we can swap out all the old 'Bucks' and finally display your 'on the whole' well sculpted, well painted and well dressed figures finally stand with a natural pose.

But as far as actual licensed products go it's gotta be the HT announcement of the acquisition of the whole Alien line and the previews of the Nostromo cosmonauts (with a slight bias towards Kane).

This has done it for me. I know it is not a Sideshow product(hopefully they will have it on pre-order) but I never thought I would see the day when a high end company like Medicom would make figures for Dragonball Z. It is like G.I.Joe being done by Sideshow and that would be my top choice but we still haven't seen any pics of the figures yet.

Dreams do come true.

Definitely the Hot Toys Davy Jones or Italian Stallion version of Rocky Balboa.
Indiana Jones and Clone Wars Obi-Wan from SSC look great but I'm still dubious as to whether the production pieces will be as good. SSC have shown plenty of great protos in the past and then failed to deliver so despite the new bodies and everything I still think they've a long way to go before they inspire the same kind of customer confidence that the Asian companies do.

The continuation of the Original Battlestar Galactica 12 inch figures. Will BSG falls behind Original Star Trek, Adam West Batman series, Wild Wild West, Lost in Space, and Man from U.N.C.L.E. as figures I want the most, at least they are being made. The Kane and Dallas from Alien look really neat, but a little out of my price range at this point.

Hot Toys' announcement of the acquisition of the rights for the entire Alien franchise is by far the best news this year so far.
Close second is SST's announcement of the new body types.

Well, I like the Dallas and Kane announcement, but I need better pix to have them MUST HAVES.
The furthering of the Battlestar Galactica figure line has me excited.
I am looking forward to the next Lost in Space wave.
The Prometheus is up there.

Disappointments?
No 1:6 original series Trek announcement.
Indy and Star Wars. If you're not a fan, you seem almost cast aside.
