In the wake of a multi-million-dollar online scam, more than 300,000 computer users worldwide could find themselves without Web access this summer.

The FBI announced that it's created a website where users can check whether they're infected with malware and remove it if they are. Check your computer here -- https://www.dcwg.org. The site was at times difficult to access on Monday, presumably due to heavy traffic.

Let us explain: In November, six Estonian nationals were arrested on charges of fraud after a two-year FBI probe called Operation Ghost Click.

They're accused of infecting computers worldwide with malware called DNS Changer, which opened up the computers to viruses. The alleged crooks used the access to direct users to their own servers and manipulate online advertising, racking up more than $14 million in illegal income, according to the FBI.

i've had computer issues for a while. I probably have this. nothing catastrophic, but for example, my Kaspersky refuses to update. For a while whenever I went to IKEAs website it took me to some spanish site. :lol. I kinda don't care. Its annoying but I'm too lazy to hire someone to fix it or fix it myself.

well they give you the website there, to check if you are okay or not
if you go on it and is green you are okay, if is red you are infected, but it says they tell you what to do as well,
i clicked on it and it was green, my laptop has been acting weird but i do the virus scan and malwarebytes and comes clean

so youre saying this is fake and the fbi are behind it and there is no threat?

I hope I wake up one morning and the internet is all gone.

Six months before the election would be an interesting time for this administration to get caught doing something like that. But why should they worry? It's not like anyone's caught them doing anything they shouldn't be. They're much too good at keeping their ____ ups a secret.

:lol

Seriously though, how do we know that website isn't the site that installs it?

that's what I was wondering, the reason I also posted it here, is interesting because the virus is real, people have been affected before with similar ones, the threat is real,
but the website, I don't know, I was wondering about that,

it would be interesting if no one comes out as red, if everyone comes out as green all over the world,
then that would be fishy
