FINALLY, I can show just what a nerd I was/is/am...:D

From a year ago, my videos with Bob Burns at his home,
Live from BOB's BASEMENT!

With KING KONG (a lifelong dream realized!):
Les, Bob & KONG

Bob with the custom Purple Monster figure I did for him:
Bob with his new custom Purple Monster figure

Forgive the quality of these, I didn't know how to use my new camera at the time. At least I got them at all! :monkey5

More vids to come.
(Just learning how to upload these!)

amazing... I respect bob in all aspects.. I remeber being a kid and wanting a figure of something.. but never made it..

Very cool Les, but I'm going to do something I rarely do - move this OUT of the Sandbox - it deserves a wider audience.

I knew when P!tu started posting his videos that pretty soon just posting words and pictures wasn't going to cut it anymore.

Great vids, bro! Can't wait for your next installment! :rock

:lol . . . great video Les :rock What a feeling it must be to hold the original King Kong marquette. Bob Burns seems like a really cool guy too, the film of his unbelievably collection is one of my favourites features on the Alien Boxset.

I know! I had that box set before I went out there, and I was like "THAT IS THE ROW OF ALIENS FROM THE DVD!!!!" It was insane!
I wish now I had reached up and touched an Alien in the video! :lol
I did, but when no one was looking! :D

That place wipes your mind clean. I mean, NO OUTSIDE THOUGHTS! You almost forget your family's names when you are there. I am surprised I got anything on video at all. I was so pumped. You just walk around in a daze the whole time. There is all kinds of stuff I didn't even look at.
I remember walking around and my foot nudged the Nostromo from Alien, the smaller of the models that "pulls" the refinery in long shots. I was like "I just bumped the Nostromo!" Stuff like that messes you up!

BTW, Bob is flattered at the vids being posted, and he hopes I can make it out again soon! I hope to! MAN, do I hope to! :rock
He's gonna have a small role in Peter Jackson's next movie, and I hope one day Peter will be at Bob's when I go! THAT would probably remove my brain from my skull entirely! IF I am so lucky! Probably never happen. :D

Those were great vids Les. I want more MORE MORE!!!!

and your voice is much deeper than I expected. I was expecting a tenor not a bass. :lol

that is so cool that you not only know Bob Burns, but are friends with him! How did you get to know him?? I'd love to be able to see his basement!! That part of the aliens boxset was definitely one of the best features.

peter jackson!!! which movie?? holy cow, if you were able to meet Peter Jackson you would be my hero... well, you are already my hero, so you'd be my superhero!

:rock :rock :rock :rock

and yes i agree with everyone that your videos need to be longer!!!!!

Les I am sure you remember how geeked out I got in the PM when I found out you got to play with Kong. This video is so cool you have to be one of the luckiest guys I know.

Kudos Dave you were right this is beyond the sandbox.

Thanks!
I felt pretty darned lucky, I'll tell ya! THAT was a lifetime dream!
I will say this, when I arrived at Bob Burn's home, I was VERY excited, but before I would let myself look around at ANYTHING, I wanted to give him his figures first, and did. But when I first walked into the Basement, I had to walk right past Kong on his pedestal, and let me tell you, THAT WAS SURREAL!!!! I walked by King Kong...and it was one of the hardest things to do I have ever done! But, once figures were given and all settled down, the FIRST THING I LOOKED AT (besides that Giger Alien head staring over my shoulder) was KONG!
I asked, "Can I touch him?" I mean, you ask you know, and when he said, "Of course! Pick him up." It was one of the best moments in my life.
Beyond description. Nothing can compare to it. You know, your childhood favorite movie monster, IN YOUR HANDS! And, it is the puppet that fought the Tyrannosaur too! THAT ONE! (There were two I think...).

Just amazing. I know I act like a dork in the vid, but that was LATE in the day. You should have seen me earlier. I was too stunned to think much,
A great experience, and one I can never thank Bob enough for. He is a totally awesome guy! One of my favorite people ever. :rock

I am very lucky to have had that opportunity.

Great videos Les. That is so cool that you got to meet Bob Burns and visit his basement. And how bloody cool of you to make him his long sought after figure. That is something I'm sure he will never forget. What an AWESOME experience!!!! :rock :rock :rock

Great vid, Les and thanks for sharing your experience with us. Hopefully, you'll pay him another visit soon so that we can see more of Bob Burns. We are so lucky to be able to vicariously visit with Mr. Burns through your eyes.

LOL when you are talking with Bob and showing off the Kong is what it is. You can say your acting like a dork etc but you know what that is exactly how most of us would be acting. I think the video is hilarious especially the end when Bob says "he likes him too much".

That was my favorite bit as well. Hilarious. :lol
