Hello....
Noob checking in....
I am somewhat new to collecting figures of this type. I don't recall how, exactly, but I stumbled across the Sideshow Adam Hughes' Rogue "comiquette" and decided, "Damn, that looks good! I gotta have that!" Unfortunately, it was on a "wait list", but I managed to find it through a third party for not much more than the price at Sideshow's site. Rogue is one of my favorite X-Men, and that figure was just too beautiful to pass up. I've since put in an order for the Bowen "Jean Grey" and hope to get the Black Queen later this month (not the "Exclusive" sadly, but all that really counts is the figure, of course).
My interest lay primarily with the Marvel comic characters, but I could also see purchasing other figures from other genres. I'd really like a good Jessica Rabbit full figure (no pun intended), for example. More than just a ... uh.. *ahem*.. bust of her, which they have offered recently. I've also bought some figures from DC Direct. They are "cold-cast porcelain" which may not be the best thing to own in So Cal, what with our propensity for quakes.
I'd be very interested to hear how others display and care for the figures. At the moment, poor Rogue still resides in the box she came in. Seems a waste of a really nice statue, but, on the plus side, she remains clean and dust-free.
I've long collected figures of various types, but only just recently started to delve into the premium stuff like this. Primarily because I could not afford it in the past. I'm discovering there are a lot of really nice statues/comiquettes/maquettes out there. Some are still beyond my price range, but I'll buy what I can!
Very nice to discover there is a website with forums like this. I plan to visit often.
